Element phobias?

Bows! I have no clue how to make them look like they belong on my page. All I ever do is tuck them under something else and then you only see part of the bow. I can't get them to look right in clusters...

But I have to have leaves because I flower cluster looks weird to me with no leaves.
 
3D elements, like keys, metal things, locks, things that you couldn't really put on a paper page. I have NO idea how to use them.....once in a while I can fit them in but mostly I look at them and love them but can't figure out how to use them. Also string and ribbons. I can NEVER get the shadows right and also, if you used it on a paper LO it would just get squished down. I think it's cause I started out as a paper scrapper so I tend to be stuck in the realistic, could be a paper page zone. I'd like to branch out a bit and use all the gorgeous 3D pieces I have but yeah....phobic

I always pretend they are stickers! :P No matter how real it looks? Stickerfy it!
 
I shy away from 3D or realistic looking elements, like many others have mentioned. I don't delete anything, but I find that I don't use things that wouldn't translate over to a paper page.

This is exactly me. Plus, those big chunky frames. Nope.
 
Oh, I forgot to mention digital flair! I've used flair on paper layouts, but the lighting on digital flair never seems to work well on my pages. I love it when designers also include the flat, non-lit version of the flair piece in their kits so I can use them like paper embellishments or stickers instead.
 
I am with @AnneofAlamo re Journal cards.. most of the time I will place it somewhere and set blend to multiply so it shows like wordart. I really dislike them!
 
3D flairs - never delete them though. I prefer everything flat and love leaves and twigs etc :)
