The holidays are upon us and I love to change up my wall decor with simple framed artwork. Using digital scrapbooking supplies, you can easily create seasonal artwork to adorn your walls. It is a simple, quick and very enjoyable craft that can be personalized however you like! I created 2 new pieces for my walls this holiday season. I used: Paislee Press: December You Are My Fave No. 8 (dove and wreath in triple matted frame) Paislee Press: December You Are My Fave No. 10 (holiday words word art, pattern paper in triple matted frame) Designed by Soco: Winter Bliss (let it snow word art) Just Jaimee: Storyteller 2021 December Snowflakes (snowflakes in let it snow frame) Allison Pennington: It's Oh So Quiet (background paper in let it snow frame) Here are the supplies I used and how I created them: 1 - Frames are from a local craft store. My frames have matted openings that are 4-1/2" x 6-1/2". 2 - I printed the patterned paper and elements on my home printer. I used card stock as the heavy amount of ink will oversaturate and thus warp thinner printer paper. I then cut it to size for the mat openings. 3 - I cut out the snowflakes, doves and wreaths with my electronic cutting machine (I used a Cricut Maker). The snowflakes were cut out on vellum, transparency film, and glitter card stock. I uploaded the dove and wreath images from the digital scrapbooking kits directly into my Cricut library so I could print and cut them out. I created a file in Photoshop with multiple snowflakes of various sizes. I recolored each one to solid black and saved this file as a png. I then uploaded the png file to my Cricut library so I could cut out the snowflakes with my Cricut machine. Tip: You can just as easily cut out these elements by hand. The snowflakes may require a bit a patience, but it can also be a very therapeutic task. Tip 2: If you use an electronic cutting machine for the transparency film, try a deeper blade cut and a double cut. Even with these things I still had a bit of struggle getting the snowflakes to be fully cut through the film. 4 - The word art in the center of the triple matted frame is from Paislee Press. I printed this out on my laser printer and then foiled it with my foiling machine. My foiling sheets are toner and heat reactive so the image needs to be printed with a laser printer. *Tip: You can print out the word are in any colors you choose by altering it in your editing program, and Paislee Press offers a couple variations of this word art with different background colors in her kit. *Tip 2: If you want to foil your word art and do not have a laser printer, office supply stores may be able print out files that you send to them which you can then foil. *Tip 3: Various laminating machines can be used for foiling (according to the internet...I have not tried these machines). I used the brand Thermoweb iCraft Deco Foil and a Minc Machine for this and have also successfully foiled using a larger Cricut heat press machine when I have things to foil that are larger than my smaller Minc can accommodate. 5 - I created the let it snow word art in my editing program - I chose a wooden paper for the background, adjusted it a bit so that it was darker and added the let it snow word art. I then added a bezel and emboss to the word art and printed it on my printer. 6 - I adhered the papers to the mats and added the wreaths and doves with pop dots (not necessary as you can't tell once they are in the frame). For the let it snow framed art, I glued some of the snowflakes to the mat and also put a bunch in the frame and let them fall where they may. Once the backing is on the frame, they don't move around. Here are more images of my framed wall art:
These are lovely wall art creations. I didn’t even notice how many snowflakes were in the frame until now! So fun! Thanks for the electronic cutting tips for the transparency film.
How simple to make, yet totally gorgeous! I'm loving this - and (because my brain is cheap), this can be easily changed over for each month or season. Awesome!
