I am a horrible passenger. It doesn’t matter if it’s the front seat, backseat or wherever. I love to drive.
I can drive eight, 10, 12 hrs., but as a passenger we have to stop all the time I can’t sleep I just like the drivers side better.
This works out great for us, my husband hates to drive.
So what about you are you the driver and like it or you a passenger and like it?

I don't like either, but prefer to be a passenger I guess! LOL!!!

I am the passenger and navigator :) I take care of the maps and all (we don't do GPS) I prefer it that way. I drive around town and I am fine with that.. Hubby can't relax on a long drive with someone else driving, so all works out... for me the older I get the less i like driving.. Long trips, I will fly.

I'm usually the driver. I get headaches if I sit anywhere else. So, if I know I'm going to be a passenger, I take a couple of Advil or if it's sudden, I'll grab a soda to head it off beforehand.

DH and I are both control freaks so we both want to drive lol, but for long trips usually he drives and I handle the kids in the backseat. I'm better at kid wrangling--that sounds mean, but it isn't about him as a dad but him as a passenger: he reads and gets so absorbed in the book that he totally tunes out the kids. I, unfortunately, can't tune them out. :giggle It's easier if I take care of them while DH focuses on driving.

I used to love to drive, but I've been relegated to the passenger's seat for so long that I'm used to it. I also hate driving my husband's truck and no one likes riding in my car.

Teaching my oldest to drive has made me such a poor passenger. I think it's also because hubby is left handed so when I think he will turn left - he turns right etc and then I feel car sick. On long trips he drives, he stays awake better than I do, but around town it can be either of us.

I'm one of those that likes both! My hubby and I work at the same Cancer Clinic, so we drive together. Our commute is an hour one way. He loves to drive, so I ride... and rest/sleep during commutes. BUT, sometimes, when traveling, I want to drive so I can see all the beauty. When I ride, I tend to fall asleep, so I miss so much! :)

I haaaaaaaaaaaaate driving. So so much. I tolerate it around town and when I'm going someplace I've been before but driving someplace new and especially in big cities makes me so very anxious and mean.

I love road trips, though!

I drive. My husband drives like a grandpa. I.can't.take.it. :banghead:giggle

Oh, and I don't drive with my mom. I prefer to not be in a car with her at all but if we are then I drive.

My girlfriends drive a lot like me so I'm cool being a passenger with them. Ha!

I'm so rarely a passenger that when I am I feel odd and think we might be too close to things on the left because my perspective is skewed from what I'm used to.

I've enjoyed being my kids' chauffeur. I like being involved in their lives and eavesdropping on their conversations with friends, who I also transport quite often.

I enjoy being a passenger too, though. It's wonderful to be able to look at the scenery more thoroughly than I can when I'm driving.

Things are changing though. My second daughter will be eligible for her learner's permit in May and she is already practicing in parking lots. She is eager to drive and get a job and be more free. We've talked about coordinating our schedules and she has happily offered to drive her siblings around. Already, with my starting a new job last month, I've been chauffeuring my kids a little less, my husband taking over when I have to work, and I miss it. Not just the driving part, but also the time I'd spend sitting in the van reading/writing/etc while waiting for my kids to come out.

I haven't driven in about a year and a half now. I have never liked to drive and purposely moved after college to a city where I didn't have to drive. I don't mind being a passenger at all (well, I guess it depends on the driver) and I LOVE road trips.

I'm the passenger, and I like it better that way. My husband thinks he's a better driver, and corrects me. I'd rather just avoid the entire issue.

I don't like to be a passenger either. I always feel like I have to be watching the road, so it's annoying because I can't sleep anyway!! I like to drive as long as there isn't awful weather.

Around town, I drive our van. On trips, my husband and I share the driving. I don't like driving after about 9pm, but he can drive until 1 or 2am. He is also a better driver than me so he gets the snowy, heavy traffic, etc. jobs.

What has been hard for me is letting my DD drive. She needs the hours to get her license, but it is so much easier for me to just drive her everywhere. Maybe something about being in control?? She is a good driver.

I prefer being the passenger which is nice because my husband likes to drive. He broke his leg after Thanksgiving and I had to drive him everywhere....drove us both crazy. He would say "you should be in the other lane already" followed by me saying "I've driven there before, I have plenty of time" and then he would just sigh. UGH! I'm not supposed to drive his new company car and that's fine with me!

My son also prefers to be a passenger. The company where he works is less than 5 miles from where he lives but they ran out of parking spaces and offered Lyft credit to anyone who would take Lyft to work. So he just walks out to the street and gets a Lyft! He loves it.

My daughter prefers to drive, but she and her husband do split it up on long drives. So this isn't a masculine/feminine issue in my family.

I hate traffic, so my husband is usually the driver. I do get motion sickness, so if it's a long drive I need some Dramamine! Plus, I have NO sense of direction! My husband says I drive like an old lady, but I'm constantly watching out for distracted drivers...being rear-ended while your toddlers are in the car will do that to you...I'm a bit paranoid now. On the other hand, if I'm by myself, I like to crank the music up and drive with the windows down on nice days! But I won't drive too far from home alone!

I don't mind driving at all- I love road trips- but the hubby is like you- he pretty much has to drive or he is super bored. I'm a good passenger too! I can read (as long as we're not on a super twisty road) and I can sleep in the car like a champ! I remember as a little kid sleeping in the car anytime we went anywhere. It's the vibrations & making me sit still that put me to sleep instantly! lol!

I don’t have a drivers license due to my sight so I’m always the passenger in some form

A few years ago we decided to split the driving duties where he drives “to” and I drive “from” wherever we are going. If we are on long trips, he gets sleepy behind the wheel, so I take over. I think he is like you @amien1 , the road vibrations are a sedative for him.
