Dreams are free | Pad Patter 2.8

If it's a dream, then the top of my list would be to go to Oxford University to freely wander through the archives and stacks of the Bodleian library, peeking in boxes and looking in books. (I'm an archivist/librarian, can you tell?) Also on my dream list would be visiting the library at Trinity College to explore their archives and special collections. Less geeky places, Iceland in winter to lounge in the Blue Lagoon and watch the Northern Lights, China, Thailand, Japan, Scotland.

Honestly...anywhere! I love to travel - love the planning, the packing, the unexpected, the food - all of it! There aren't many places that I'd turn down a chance to visit. My "dream big" trips at the moment include an Alaska cruise before my oldest graduates (complete with lots of time on land - Denali, etc), a photographic safari, and a long, leisurely trek through Italy with my husband....

Of course, I also like having lots of travel photo books to tackle when I get back home!

It's small, but I enjoy driving vacations, and we don't have enough time to drive anywhere that's longer than four or five days. I'd love to be able to drive farther west; we always stop along the way to look at attractions, so it takes a long time to get places.

I have an epic road trip across the mainland US planned for someday complete with Route 66, national monuments, the Pacific Coast Highway, and crossing into Canada to see some of those sites like Banff.
My other Dream is one of those Round the World cruises. I used to want to ride on the QE2, until it was retired. Now I want to cruise the world and see some highlights.

I have a cousin and his husband that take winter trips every year to somewhere warm since they are retired college professors and live in Missouri. They've done several African safaris and a trip to Tasmania/Australia/New Zealand in the last several years. But the one that really peaked my interest was one they did about 7 or 8 years ago. They got on a cruise ship somewhere on the east coast then went down the coast of South America, around the tip and up the west coast of South America on to San Francisco. Somewhere on their trip they did get off of 1 ship and get on another but they cruised the whole way and did not go thru the Panama Canal. If I remember right, it was an 8-10 week cruise.

Europe or Australia. Or South Africa. Or heck, to a nearby hotel if it meant room service and no alarm clock. I'm not picky lol! I do want to visit most of Europe, but right now I think Amsterdam and Germany (probably Berlin, maybe Frankfort) top the list. Oh, and Belgium. And Liechtenstein.

My travel dream list is long...
3-6 months to thoroughly explore England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland (I want to stay at the bookstore in Scotland that lets you stay free if you run the bookstore.)
New Zealand to do the Lord of the Rings tourist thing
Australia
A Grand Tour of Europe with lots of time in France (including Disney Paris)
Egypt (because seeing the pyramids is #1 on DH's list)
Trans-Canada trip starting in the Maritimes and ending in Vancouver
Alaska - combined cruise & railroad package
Back to Hawaii to see the other islands beside Oahu
To go to all the US National Parks and as many of the other monuments, historic sites, etc as possible
To do the Ultimate US Road Trip that I've seen on Facebook and several other road trips like Route 66

I'm gnna go with @michelepixels and do the whole world tour-
Would start by going to Buenos Aires to pick my mum, some of my cousins, then to Brazil top pick some pf my cousins in Rio, Sarita's God parents and my God Daughters, and some friends, and then with them all, do the whole USA, a map for the journey drawn by places where you all live, and will make a point of bringing some of you along with me for the rest of the journey then we could all end up somewhere in the west coast maybe, and have a Pad party .......

Now on a more realistic side: because of my health, the one trip we had planned for this year wont happen (we were going to Japan) but if I can sort our lives out a bit better, I would love to do a Mediterranean Cruise, but I dont like the big ships... when I was pregnant with Sarita, we went to Egypt with Andy, 3 days in Cairo, a cruise (I think it was 8 days?) in a small boat down the Nile to Luxor , stopping for tours in all main points, and then 4 days in Luxor and fly back.... that was my dream, holiday... I would love to take Sarita there...I was 5 months pregnant when we went....
Now these days I think the same trip is a bit dangerous :(

Our dream is to go London to Venice and London to Istambul with the Orient Express.... but full price is almost £5000 for just 4 nights.... so we keep dreaming :)

@londoncuppa you know you have bed, breakfast and laundry service waiting for you here!!!!

@cfile nothing would make me happier than having you backl!!!

same goes for you @Juliestcyr
