Do you organize your fonts?

I use an old version of Fontcase for the Mac. Here is an image of how I set it up. I am previewing one of my doodlebats here:

Anne, you like it better than AMP? That's what I'm using now, & I think you said you did, too.

I have 4018 fonts at this point in time! LOL...YUP definitely a big big font lover! I use "suitcase" to manage my fonts. SInce I also use fonts in my designs I have divide my fonts in a CU and a PU use group first off all. Then I have divided them into groups of typewriter fonts, serif, sans serif, western, retro, handwritten, display, cartoon, fancy and grunge.

I use Nexus font organizer. Jessica Sprague has a Technique Tuesday series she has just started and I saw it come through my blog reader a few weeks ago. She mentioned this organizer and showed how she organizes her 3,000+ (!) fonts. I borrowed some of her categories and added my own. I went through VERY quickly and threw some of the fonts into categories. Now I can easily sort out typewriter, handwriting, stencils, all caps, etc. But I didn't categorize all of them. My organization went pretty fast but I only have 650 or so.

Mine are a big mess too!!I have 1500 fonts but I only use 10 of them!:tantrum

I'm downloading the Nexus and I'll try to organize them today!!!

Thanks for the tips girls:heartslub

Nexus is great. I discovered it through Jessica Sprague's blog post. I borrowed her categories and added a few of my own. I spent an hour or so categorizing some of the fonts (handwriting, typewriter, stencil, Titles, etc) but did NOT go through all my fonts one by one. That would take forever.

i desperately need to do something with mine... they're a disaster. sometimes i just do what Angie does... flip through them until something fits the page i'm working on. i don't even know how many i have... but do know that i have a handful of faves that i tend to use over & over & over again :D

I started organizing mine in AMP once and it just really ended up taking me forever and I don't use it. My method was to uninstall a whole bunch of them and just have them in a folder, just have my absolute faves in PS. Then if I want something different, I go to my other folder and install something that works.
I like this idea. I think I'll do that. I don't t use many of the ones that come with my Pc.

Well ... I have Font Book on my mac and I had never seen it (where's the embarrassed smiley? :whistle) but in reality it can be used very well to organize fonts into categories and to delete some.

:yesss

not only I don't have a clue how to organise them...but I would love to get rid of some old ones I never use to get new ones....
do you know how to get rid of fonts in Mac? it wont take moving them to the trash....
it tells me it cannot empty the trash can as the font is in use....
do you know how to uninstall?
I would LOVE if anyone Mac could give us a hand with that!!!!

ohh that link to the Mac support is great!!!!
love the way the fomt case dislpays, now I have a secondary problem as the program I use for scrapping is Windows based, so I work on Parallels...I need to go give it a go but I don't think that organising them in Mac will sort it in Windows...
but thanks so much for that Mac link...(can I be slower? I should ve thought about goimng to the help page !!!!LOL)

I have over 3000 myself and no MAC computer. I had them all in my cs4 but due to the amount it started going drag slow :dizzy So I uninstalled everyone of them and made a new map and then have gotten most of them placed in maps like Bold, Fancy, HAndwritten, Messy etc etc.. but I need to look in a map full and miss the scrolling to the feeling deal

indeed same here!

Well, all fonts are picked in C>Windows>Fonts folder and they automatically open in Photoshop...
I do not understand - How do you organize them?? Every time you put that you need and then remove it? I also have thousands and scrolling the mouse no end :groan

That's how I had it at first but with over 3000 fonts my PS cs4 had trouble with all that loading. I noticed a big change when I transfered my fonts to a new map in my C:/ So I need to scroll :/ and because of the large amount some still need to be catagorized :P

I think the easiest way is to delete them through Font Book. Just right-click/ctrl-click the font you want to delete and select "remove" from the flyout menu.
