I have over 600 fonts :dizzy and obviously I find the one I want with some difficult. What do you do with your fonts?

I love letters! fonts and alphas! swoon.
I have this cool free program called AMP font viewerhttp://www.ampsoft.net/utilities/FontViewer.php
I like it, have used it for years. It is free, I would love to hear what others use.
I organised all my fonts. cause like my tag lines says:
A place for everything, everything in its place.

My fonts are just a big mess, lol. I use CS5 and it previews the fonts, so I just kind of scroll down until something catches my eye.

I wish! I have maybe more than 3000, so my folder is REALLY a big mess. I try to use The font thing to open my fonts so I won't crash my photoshop....it helps a lot!!

ugh. no. i need to, though! when i have the time... and the inclination! lol.

nope. well, sorta. I made a word doc with all of them and I update it when I d/l a new one. Then when I want to see them all I just open said document and scroll through until I find what I want.

I use AMP Font Viewer, too, and I like it, but I haven't organized everything. I try to tag my fonts as I use them. Do you keep all of yours on your main hard drive or on your external?

Well ... I have Font Book on my mac and I had never seen it (where's the embarrassed smiley? :whistle) but in reality it can be used very well to organize fonts into categories and to delete some.

:yesss

I use Nexus font organizer. Jessica Sprague has a Technique Tuesday series she has just started and I saw it come through my blog reader a few weeks ago. She mentioned this organizer and showed how she organizes her 3,000+ (!) fonts. I borrowed some of her categories and added my own. I went through VERY quickly and threw some of the fonts into categories. Now I can easily sort out typewriter, handwriting, stencils, all caps, etc. But I didn't categorize all of them. My organization went pretty fast but I only have 650 or so.

I started organizing mine in AMP once and it just really ended up taking me forever and I don't use it. My method was to uninstall a whole bunch of them and just have them in a folder, just have my absolute faves in PS. Then if I want something different, I go to my other folder and install something that works.

I just downloaded Nexus font organizer and started reading the Technique Tuesday!! Thank you for this...love her categories! gonna do this!

LOL. This thread cracks me up. I have all of my fonts in Font Book (I'm a mac gal), and once I tried to organize them, but honestly, I add them faster than I can keep them in folders, LOL. I do like Laura... just scroll down until I find one that looks "right". But honestly, I always save my page before I hit that "text" icon, b/c about 1/2 the time, it crashes my program. SIGH. I learned this the hard way.

Anne, you are my organizational hero :)

I don't organize I just flip through them in CS and pick one that catches my eye!
