Do you celebrate Valentine's day with your DH/SO?

I always think of Valentine's Day as more of a fun holiday for the kids. DH and I usually just do cards and maybe some chocolate, but I just got this email from him.

"We have reservations at the chop house february 10th at 6:45pm
Mark your calendar and ensure lilly pad and kids are covered.
love you"

hahhahaha I think I was upgraded this year! :heartslub
Anyone want to babysit the Pad that night? I think I'm already covered for the kids. :giggle

What about you? Romantic plans for Valentine's?

GO DH! :)

We don't usually celebrate. I might make him a card, but that's about all. If we ever had a sitter then we might maybe go out. But my youngest is a bit hard to handle and I'm scared of her scaring a sitter for life.

GO DH x2! :D

we celebrate here (Brazil) in another date (june 12) and we always TRY to make some planes... but I'm romantic, I like to celebrate always! lol

OWW! and I almost forgot! I got married in feb 14! HAHAHAH so, yes, we always do something in this day too! ;)

I can watch the Pad, I can promise you I don't have a date that night. :whoopdedoo

I'm actually not much a holiday person. I don't even care about my own birthday or Christmas. So V-Day is not even on my radar, other than to remind me that my oldest son's birthday is in 2 days.

Oh, I got your back Laura! :)

After 20 years....yeah, no V-Day stuff going on here either! LOL We do get each other a card and go have a drink after I get off work but other than that, that pretty much sums up the big <3 Day for us. I really hate fighting people for a spot at all the restaurants. It's absolutely crazy around here. I'd prefer to grill a steak at home with a tater!

We do celebrate. :) We have ever since the first year together, when DH didn't mean to do anything special at all, and I quickly made him change his mind. :rollingpin :giggle We usually do cards, little gifts, and of course a lovely dinner (usually at home). :)

Your DH is pretty awesome, Laura! ;)

Your DH is pretty awesome said:
He is a keeper, for sure. LOL Although, I just noticed he spelled Lilypad wrong (Lillypad??). I guess he isn't checking the forums much. LOL

I will let him know we are all set for Pad babysitters too.

I am going to keep with my mom's tradition... which I can't share just yet.... someone clearly knows where I post. haha. but yes. I can't wait to celebrate!!

Valentine's day is also our wedding anniversary, so we definitely celebrate each year :beat

We have kept Valentine's Day very low key the last five years... because my mom died on Valentine's Day 2007. :( I'm not a big holiday person either so I'm totally ok with just exchanging cards. We don't have children so we get lots of alone time together already, LOL.

I think with the whole group we can manage not to get the site into too much trouble. lol.

Usually we go out to eat or a movie or something. We do cards and he usually brings me flowers and we might do small gift. For the past couple of years my friends have had my daughter over for a sleepover and they do a little Valentine's party thing with them. Congrats on your upgrade! lol

Not particularly. Planning around him working second shift + his visitation with his son + his classes + finding a babysitter for DD is way too much hassle. My bday is a couple weeks before, so he usually plans something for that instead.

Planning on his own is definitely not something he is good at, so I've had to make a list of the holidays that are important to me --- (01) Christmas, (02) my birthday, & (03) Mother's Day in case you're curious --- and told him that if he can make the effort to do something on those days (or willingly be part of the celebration that I plan when it comes to Christmas), I will let the rest slide. He has a bit of a 'block' when it comes to the holidays due to his brother's sudden passing abt 15 years ago, so this is the best compromise we've come up with so that I get my holiday fix and he does not have to be Mr. Holiday for most of the year. Doing things for the kids doesn't seem to bother him as much as doing things for other adults (not just me) in his life. Maybe b/c he wants to do those nice things for his brother, but can't?

What a sweetheart Laura! A guy who makes plans. . . he's a keeper!

Aw! That's SO sweet!! Reminds me of the time my husband planned a valentine's day dinner, and when we got to the restaurant there were a dozen roses waiting for me at the table. *sigh* That was SOOOO many years ago!

I know Valentine's Day is a crappy totally commercial holiday, but I'm going to admit- I love it. I think it has a whole lot to do with my love for anything pink, which is everywhere you turn your head this time of year. The hubs and I don't usually do anything special, but we do my little gifts for each other, and I always buy something for the girls. I think it's a fun little super girly super pink holiday.

Sounds great Laura!

DH usually plans something. Usually a dinner out. Sometimes he changes it up and surprises me.

Thanks, Cristina. :beat

My bday is today, Amy, but we are celebrating it tomorrow. Taking DD to the doctor to be dxed with an ear infection and driving back and forth (and waiting outside) to Walmart to pick up her meds is not exactly what I had in mind for my bday. DH (and hopefully some friends of ours) are going to Dave & Buster's tomorrow night to celebrate, and then a friend of mine and I are going to head downtown Saturday night to catch a free concert and check out Super Bowl Village before all the tourists descend upon us next week. :)
