Do you visit a carwash, use the hose at home, get someone else to clean your car, or, like me, wait for it to rain?

My car's looking a lot shinier and sparklier this week after some rain, i do give it a bit of a wipe down after driving errands around in the rain for a bit but nothing special. I clean the windshield when i put petrol in if there's no one queued behind me and it's good enough for me; otherwise it's not something i really think about, until DH decides to wash his car like every 6mths or so - and then i ask really nicely and after much negotiation he usually does mine as well. the kids enjoyed helping the first few times and it was more frequent every two months or so, & then the novelty wore off and it became less frequent. The inside gets vacuumed pretty regularly, with sand and popcorn as an after school snack being not so car friendly so i guess i think about the inside more than the outside!

I really should go wash my car today! I’m not the do it yourself type of girl when it comes to these things though. My new neighbor cleaned his car the other day with a pressure hose and was even bristling the inside of his wheels. It was extreme and I almost felt guilty it had to be parked next to mine.

As long as the weather is warm, I really enjoy washing my own car! I like being able to get all those little places that the car wash misses, like inside the wheels and a lot of the bugs stuck to the front. And it's just fun to play in the water hose on a hot day lol. Unfortunately, right now the valve on my outside hose is messed up and I can't use it, so I have to go the car wash. I don't really go all that often, and always check the weather to try to make sure it's at least going to stay clean for several days before it rains. I do the inside more often, because kids.

When I was in college, I spent summers working at a car wash. The wash itself was automatic, but we did the vacuuming, windows, dash, wiping the inside of the doors, wheels and tires, etc. We also did detail work like waxing and upholstery cleaning. I LOVED that job!

In California I washed my own car because it's a desert and and we're water conscious there.
Since I've lived in Virginia I've mostly taken my car to a car wash maybe a couple times a year. A few times in the 18 years I've lived here, though, I have pulled my car onto my lawn to wash it. The car wash is easier and more fun though! :)

Love that funny meme, Justine. My hubby buys a batch of car washes (they're quite a bit cheaper) and he takes my car for me. I love it when he gets it "detailed". We like clean cars (inside and out).

I am the worst at cleaning the inside or outside of my van. My hubby will take it through the car wash for me occasionally, but mostly he doesn't want to be embarrassed by my dirty car. Lol! I'm in charge on the inside which gets a good vacuuming and washing about once a year if I'm feeling really motivate. :giggle

I'd like to say I only wait for the rain to wash my car, but it's Arizona and it doesn't rain too often here. There was some a couple weeks ago and that's the most recent "car washing." Otherwise, I get one when the car is just looking really bad - maybe every few months. I'm more likely to get one if I park at my mom's too much during the month because the birds love to use my car as target practice.

My husband washes the car by hand normally, but will use a carwash if it gets very mucky when we are on holidays. I have known him to dash out in the rain and wash it then.

We've not been allowed to wash cars for 2 months now, due to the unusual drought we've had. We were in danger of a water shortage. We have had some rain this past week, but not enough yet for the water board to declare an end to water conservation measures.

I love the car wash- although I think my car is weird shaped or something because there is a few corners that ALL car washes seem to miss. But... it knocks most of the dust/pollen off ;) With the hubby's brand new fancy car- we have been handwashing it weekly... smh. Such a big kid with his new toy! lol! BUT we did find some really cool spray wax to apply after every wash & it makes washing SO easy- most of the bugs & dirt rinse right off with the hose. It's call hydrosilex & it's like rain-x on steroids!
