This is a post i could write a huge reply to, at risk of boring everyone.
DH loves a project and our house has been continually changing since Covid lockdown inspired the 'rip up all the carpet and replace it with floating (timber laminate) floors' project. So that was 4 bedrooms plus 2 loungeroom areas over the space of a few weeks but it made a huge difference to allergies and the feel of the house (the rest of the house is the same tile as has been here since the house was built in the 90's), and i guess it started to snowball from there. We love Ikea Hacks and I've got a before/after post here in the forum somewhere from our kitchen and laundry reno. He's also hacked their kitchen line in the home office and into a tv /entertainment wall unit (that was inpisred by replacing the old aircon and was intended to keep our birds off the aircon we replaced at the time, not that it seems to have done that ) - i have a page about adding lighting to it as the finishing touch here
The most recent/current project is our main bedroom. After the (paid professionals) ensuite reno mid last year (it was only us painting the ceiling for this one, because they tiled to the ceiling - there was a lot more painting in the main bathroom the same company did a few years back), and continuous decluttering, we need to figure out storage better and need to add reverse cycle aircon because summer nights are not getting any better but last winter was also bad. So we're in the beginning stages of that. The bedroom did have a deep blue feature wall and blue art & bedding etc until about a fortnight ago. It's now the same warm white as the rest of the house with palm tree/white green bedding (haven't made any art yet).
With that, we changed out the timber/wood venetian blinds in our room and then in one of the lounge rooms (it has 3 windows like a bay window) for dual roller blinds (there's a sheer blind and a block out one in front), but the windows weren't exactly standard sizes so there was angle grinding of window frames and 3D printing of extra pad out bits so they'd fit the frame better. The timber ones in the lunge were looking ratty because of Steve (one of the birds) who likes to climb them like a ladder and chew on them. Several of our reno projects have been due to bird damage, i mean, normal bird inquisitiveness and behaviour.
