Did you stay up late and ring in the new year? I wasn't planning to but ended up playing games with my hubby and one of my girls until 1 am. We warmed up a chick fil-a nugget platter for dinner and then played games and watched Snowball Express for our celebration. We got Exploding Kittens for Christmas and had a lot of fun playing that. It sounds like a dumb game, but it really is fun and is kind of a Russian Roulette type of game. We also played Rack-o, Rummikub and Trouble. I couldn't believe how good my Megan (11) is getting with games. She was kickin my trash at all of them! Usually I'm the family champion, but last night she was on fire and won, won, WON!

She didn't get up until 11 am this morning and is still a little outta it. Maybe I should hurry and challenge her to another game while she's outta it, so I'll have the advantage... hehe!

So did you celebrate New Years and if so, what did you do?

There was a couple of times last night I didn't think I'd make it LOL DH and DS were playing their video games and I was hanging out here, anxiously awaiting the first MOC post. Right before midnight I casually mentioned that we had some Roman candles and bottle rockets left from the 4th of July, and next thing I knew we were outside shooting them off...it was 6 degrees with a windchill of -3. We didn't last long lol. I went to bed right after. Not sure what time DS went to sleep, but he is still sleeping at 1:30 in the afternoon.

We ordered pizza, watched the end of the Falcons game, I prepped Project Life templates, and my husband and daughter read Harry Potter (they are on Order of the Phoenix). I made it to midnight, but BARELY. I had already brushed my teeth and gotten ready for bed before midnight, so once we watched the Peach and the Ball drop, I was out. My daughter stayed up until after 1 reading.

Yup. Watched some Marvel movies, then watched the Disney World fireworks livestream to countdown to midnight before going to bed a bit later. I like sleep too much to stay up too too late.

My sister, daughter, & I played a Disney trivia game, watched 'Frozen,' put together a LEGO Friends set (just them, actually), and then rang in the new year with sparkling grape juice & noisemakers. :cheer :cheer :cheer

My nephew & his friends were downstairs in the basement taking turns playing Nerf Gun wars and playing my nephew's new PS4. They came up for pee breaks & snack breaks but didn't hang out with us otherwise. :p

I've heard that game is fun!! They also have Bears vs Babies which has good reviews too!
Hubby and I went to bed at 1 but the girls passed out hours before midnight and I wasn't about to wake them up LOL!

Nope...out like a light by 9:30pm. I don't think I've actually seen midnight on NYE in years. haha!

This is usually me. My hubby was so surprised that I stayed up. He even mentioned to the girls a few minutes ago that he couldn't believe I stayed up with them. It's been years and years since I've done that. I usually watch the ball drop at 10 pm our time and head off to bed... hehe

Those games sound like fun! I fell asleep at 11:30 and was up by 7:15. Back to work tomorrow and trying to get everything done that I haven't accomplished during vacation.

I have a "stay up late" problem in the last few months. So my husband was pooped out early and I'm like LET'S DANCE!

It didn't help that I had half a cupcake and ice cream at 1 am, and had previously had 3 glasses of wine. But then we watched Decorating Disney for the Holidays and they were dancing and I just wanted to waltz around the living room. This was at 1:30 am. I finally followed him to bed just before 2 am when the Christmas tree lights when off (on a timer) and it was basically pitch dark other than the tv and computer.

And we slept til noon today.

We stayed up until about one. We played games as a family all night and then walked over to the base of the mountain at around 11:45. Our son skied with a torch for the torchlight parade, we watched the fireworks and then walked back to our cabin. We're all usually ready for bed before we go out, but being in the cold gives us all a second wind. The kids stayed up until after 1:00... so they could wish their central time zone friends back home Happy New Year.

I'm a night owl so it wasn't a problem to stay up. I had the tv on one of the cable stations with sound off waiting for the ball drop. As the ball dropped I kept hearing a squeaking noise at my feet. The puppy had one of her toys and was making it squeak constantly. Made me chuckle that even she celebrated in her own way. Not long after that we went to bed because I knew she'd probably get me up between 6 and 7 to go outside.

My oldest is home from college and she was out until 3:30. I couldn't go to sleep until she was home. So, I was up but pretty grumpy about it. LOL :stars

oh yes... waiting for those big kids (even when they're older and have been off on their own) is tough. I'm not looking forward to the years when they're old enough to be an adult and be out how ever late they want, but still coming home to my house. I just can't sleep well if I don't know everyone is home safe. If hubby waits up, I can go to sleep, but I just can't sleep if no one is waiting up for them. I guess they'll all always be my babies no matter how old they get.

Yes. Way too late! My DH & I were at a party with some of my figure skating friends, and a few of us were starting to fall asleep around 9:00! I'll be paying for it when I need to get my DD up for ice time at 0-dark-hundred this week. Eek!

I wasn't going to stay up, but the children's medical needs had me up until 11:50 anyway. Hubby and I went into the attic at midnight to overlook the town from the window there. We are at the top of the hill and the view of fireworks going off all across the town was incredibly romantic.

it rained here for the first time in ages on NYE so we did a brief 'sparklers and glowsticks' stint outside for the photos pretty much (after we started a new tradition of 'ultimate xmas dinner on NYE' (where i cooked all the food we actually wanted to eat on xmas, but when we go to the various houses we celebrate xmas at, they don't serve for various reasons), then just watched the 'family' fireworks at 9pm on tv. The kids were in bed by 10pm.
They showed some stat's on tv the other night that approx 1.5 million people cram into Sydney Harbour for the fireworks (pretty much all on public transport because of restrictions) vs. approx 10 thousand in London and given the few times we've gone into Syd, that may be why I can't get excited about it anymore -the logistics of getting there and back and all the sardine squashing etc usually in hot humid weather, just doesnt outweigh the comfort and better vantage point from the lounge. That said, with the noise from around the street here, i was still up at 2:30 so to answer the main question - yes i was up but i didn't really want to be!

My daughter came for dinner (crockpot glazed pork tenderloin and baked veggies with feta, spices, oil and pomegranate seeds) then we watched 2 movies (one thriller and one comedy) while playing a board game. We ended up in bed around 1:30. We had a fun night at home.
