I was just coming in here to ask you size and orientation for cover so I have an idea. This is great. Also for BYOC April '17 - do you or the designers have a file with the color palette available that you could link me up to?
And the TLP logo you want to use too?

@jenn mccabe - here you go... everything attached. The packaging zip has old and new versions of the logo. I'd like to use the one that's currently on the site header. Let me know if you need anything else.

Ok ... here goes a sample Cover Page.

To me BYOC is all about the color palette. The template is super clean and very much on the softer side (color wise). I love the simple understated colors - and I think it will be easy to pull off that look, and a more understated color palette, for the Pocket Page Look Book (assuming you want to keep all the Lookbooks cohesive with the same template design - wasn't sure about that). But as I was trying to keep that simple understated color palette translated to the BYOC lookbook ... I struggled a bit.

If we are aiming to try to reach a new audience to collect email addresses - I think we need explain Build Your Own Collection (both visually and with copy/text), we need to explain BYOC (the abbreviation), and we need to sell the concept and all we can offer a scrapbooker. I felt like while I was putting this together I had to let all those gorgoeus BYOC colors shine - and so I hope I still was able to capture enough lightness and clean white space???

I included the original page sample I used (just like you did in your example). I realize the orig. template (the one on top) does not actually have that black border - that's just the ISSUU background. But for my attempt at a Cover, I felt I needed some way to link all those BYOC colors on there. So I did a little background (I did leave off the neutrals because it was way too much) but I gave you a nice big white background. The white background can go even bigger and minimize the colorful border so there's just a smidgen of it? When I wrote {April Lookbook} I intentionally left off 2017 - because why advertise it's old? When we go to do the new ones we can add the date - but I thought perhaps leave it off the cover for now? IDK. (I did sneak it onto the Intro page in the details). So here's my go at it to start:

And here's a first run at the INTRO page - Instead of a solid color band at the top I did a gradient of all the colors. The other Lookbooks could be solid and softer - but maybe for the BYOC we sell those awesome colors? And again - I really wanted to tie in the Build Your Own collection concept with the abbreviation BYOC for any newbies.

I wanted the colors to take center stage while keeping a lot of white. I grabbed a pocket/traditional/and an AJ style page to try to sell the idea BYOC is for all types of scrappers!

I can swap any of those page samples out for alternates (cover or intro)... not sure about the little squares with the BYOC colors. Does it seem too heavy? I did like the little blurbs in white though "Share your Story, Journal your Heart, etc"

Stunning. My 2 cents is I adore the lightness. The placement of text and images really look professional and compelling to me as a reader.

Beautiful, Jenn! I like the gradient (genius!!) and how you tied in the BYOC explanation using colors. I also love the lightness!

2 questions for the intro page:
I wonder if it should scoot to the left a little only for that last word/readability. Maybe centered over the line that separates the two sections?
Should the words be turned or straight on? Just curious if they would read easier as typed horizontally?

Yes ... Jenn are you talking about the top text "Capturing All of ...." and how the white blends too much into the lighter colors of the end of the gradient? If so - that bothered me too. I can adjust the gradient maybe - or we can resize the text, move it. Was trying to keep it like the Template as much as possible - but if everyone hated all the color I didn't want to get too crazy making all the tweeks.

As for the horizontal and vertical words you might be right about that too. I wanted to vary them a bit. Perhaps if we think we should have them all horizontal we could do different sizes to vary it a little? IDK. I wasn't sure about all those blocks of color either. Are they too heavy - do we need to tone that down?

Really beautiful!! You did a great job, @jenn mccabe !
I would definitely like to see it full size. I will buy the templates today so we have the actual files to use.

I need to think about the phraseology for the gradient bar. As well, I do think we need the BYOC badge on the intro page. Even though it's harder to make work from a design element standpoint, I think it's helpful for new shoppers to understand they can use that feature to spot coordinating products throughout the store.

Ahh - yes, I wanted to ask about the BYOC logo and if you wanted that!

What's your email Laura? I will send the PSDs over.

Laura has the final say on these things, these were just things that jumped out to me first glance. Depending on what Laura decides, it might just be a simple move. :)

Are they too heavy - do we need to tone that down? I'm not sure. I think turning the text will help a lot for reading, lol! I don't think the colors are too heavy, since they are BYOC. If you thought that, maybe just try rearranging them? It looks like 3 fonts for the words. Maybe use the same one for top an bottom word? Just thinking out loud here.

If you add the BYOC Logo, you could do a circle of colors rather than the blocks? Just an idea.

They truly are beautiful!

I don't want to overstep myself, and assume that I have any real say, but I thought sharing my first glance thoughts might help. If this is not needed, please let me know to be quiet. :) @lmccandless
