Decorations | Pad Patter 12.29

My house is going through a fairly large remodel so I only put up the 4 foot tree. I didn't even put on ornaments. It lit up completely until Christmas Eve. So on boxing day, I boxed it up and threw it away! We took down our outside lights on the 27th.

My hubby brought the boxes in today so I took the hint and we took it all down while he was willing to help. The outdoor lights are still up but the lighting company will take them down and store them for us sometime in January as the weather allows.

we took the ornaments and tree down today. husband will get the outside lights down on the 1st probably.

As I was putting things away, i was thinking about how I want it to be different next year. I am *considering* looking for some red and silver ornaments in some christmas clearance sections... just trying to update our "look" to be more cohesive. But I also love that we have a hodgepodge of fingerprints, popsicle sticks, bottle caps, and glitter handmade things. I just know those won't last forever... more cohesive look will come when the kids are older, probably, so... i'm still undecided.

When I finished wrapping gifts this year, I did donate what was left of our wrapping paper rolls because I was tired of them. We've used the same rolls for like 5 years. ***OVER IT*** I bought different wrapping paper on clearance already :giggle

Our tree here comes down on January 1st. Our two at home always come down the first weekend we're back... so they'll come down on the 4th. We put up very few other decorations this year at either place, so hopefully the clean up won't take too long.

Unfortunately my stuff is all still up. :giggle I'm in the middle of painting my kitchen cabinets and have spent every free minute of my break working on that. I suggested that my hubby could go ahead and clean up the Christmas mess... but he didn't like that idea. Whatevs. Lol. I'm thinking I will get to it this weekend.

This year we never put them up, except for our house flag and a wreath on the door. We were gone for Christmas, but we're also in the midst of a renovation. Upside: we don't have decorations to put away. Downside: We have a house to put away. :giggle

We are Catholic, so the Christmas season actually STARTS on Christmas Day, and goes through until Epiphany, The Feast of the Three Kings - thus the 12 Days of Christmas are actually AFTER Christmas day, not the countdown TO Christmas Day. So, we take things down after Epiphany, which this year is on January 6th..
