I need help. Who has done a December Daily album in the past? I see people's albums and I think it's so cool. I would like to do it, but December is one of the BUSIEST months for me at work since it's year-end. Not only that, but since I don't have children, we hardly celebrate Christmas except on Christmas Day and in our hearts as Christ's birthday. We don't do much decoration, and we don't even really spend Christmas with family. I just don't have much of a December to document. I guess I just pretty much answered my own question. But, I'm curious as to why YOU would do December Daily, and if you've done it in the past and actually FINISHED the project, how did you feel about it?

I've done a December Daily for the past 2 years and hands down they are my favorite "mini" albums! We LOVE the Christmas season and we tend to do a lot of little things throughout the month. It's the perfect way for me to capture the everyday in December! The crazy thing is i don't really scrap Christmas or any holidays really...not sure why!

Here's my DD from last year

and 2010

I'm pretty sure it was 5.5 x11- I basically cut a 8.5x11 in half to make it easy with no waste!

December is always crazy for me, too. We have a lot of family birthdays around that time and all the kids' holiday events just kill me. I did preorder the red binders in the TLP store for this December and I plan to do an Elf on a Shelf type book with them. We had so much fun last year doing the Elf on a Shelf with the kids. A lot of my pages are going to be digi to make it easier, but I think it will be fun to throw in a few papery pages as well.

BTW, I do not have the expectation that I will be anywhere close to being done in December. I'm sure this project will be a January project for me.

Ya it's gonna be interesting this year as i wasn't doing PL those years like i have been this year....it did take up some time but i have to admit i loved and looked forward to "working" on a simple page each day with the activities we had done. I tried to keep it VERY SIMPLE with NO PRESSURE of design...almost like an art journal each day....

I've done it the past two years and love it... The first year I was miserably pregnant and we didn't go hang out with family since I couldn't travel... I have lots of just journaling pages about my thoughts and lots of dr appt pages lol and then Moriah's birthday is right before Christmas so I have her birthday and Jesus' birthday in there

Last year I attempted hybrid... It started out fancy and then by the end they were just printed scrapbook pages lol and I loved Sara's Pear Tree Album templates it was perfect... there are pictures on my FB if you want to see... I think I have them all up there in my December Daily album :)

I thought your hybrid book was amazing...i didn't even realize you changed it up at the end.

I really really want to do this....I'm good about taking the pictures, decent at documenting, but when it comes to putting it together I just get lost (I have planned on doing one for the past 2 years and just never got motivated). I think I need to do what Ali Edwards recommends and get the book together first so I know what I'm doing. Really considering buying the book that TLP has for sale. It looks like it would be awesome for December Daily.

Your albums are all amaaaazing!

The thing I'm hung up on is the December part, LOL. Like I said, Christmas is one day in our household. So what am I supposed to do with the other days? It doesn't snow here. I work a lot of hours in December and don't get out much. It would be much easier for me to do an "August Daily", LOL.

Why couldn't you do an August Daily then? You should do what makes you happy. Christmas is huge in my house....i homeschool and we always have something Christmasy going on everyday, but not everyone does.

On a similar topic, I love the idea of doing a book and calling it 108 Days (phineas and ferb reference for those of you who don't know) and doing a summer project like December Daily. Actually toyed with the idea of doing it this summer but honestly I'm glad I didn't...this had to be the most boring, worst summer emotionally I've ever had. Maybe next year.

A friend of mine suggested on FB that I do a thankful November album, which I'm totally on board with! :D

I call mine a holiday album and it starts on Wednesday before Thanksgiving and finishes up with New Year's Eve. I don't try to do a layout for everyday, just capturing our family and Thanksgiving, decorations, gifts, stuff we do as a family, then Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's. My daughter is home for part of it now so there is more to document. One time I did it in just a 4x6 album with word art on photos, one is 6x6, one is 5x7 and one is 8x8. Last year's was printed layouts with five or so divided page protectors with some pretty holiday paper and stickers in them to "attempt" a little hybrid.

I actually want to do this... I've been seeing some on Pinterest and think I may give it a try... especially since I'm trying to be intentional about finding things to be thankful everyday... I actually did a new FB status of something I was thankful for every day in November and thought it would be a fun thing to do in an art journal

I know... I want one too... especially with homeschooling stuff... OMG, I'd have soooo much fun with it, not just hybrid scrapping LOL

I did albums for the past two years, and totally loved them! I went the hybrid way for both, so it took me quite a lot of time. But I am glad I did. I am planning to go hybrid again this year (but it will be more PL style). :)
You can see them on my blog: 2010 and 2011 (1-9, 10-13, 14-19, 20-22, 23, 24-25, binding and cover).
In 2010 I did the album ahead of time because we were traveling for Christmas; I used my Silhouette heavily. I ended up not being able to keep up with the album while I was traveling, so I completed it months later. :) Last year we were home, I went with a simpler approach, and I kept up pretty much the whole time. But I love them both so much! I love Christmas - but I don't think I could pull of such a time consuming project if I didn't!
