Crying my happen.. just saying

That's exactly what I said to my husband. I'm going to find my old EHD (that broke too but I was eventually able to get stuff off of) and see if I can get some of my pictures from that. I'm thinking it will only be my 2011 pictures missing. He is going to take it to a computer shop and see what they can do.

I am still not giving up on BB either.. I contacted them again and am keeping my fingers crossed!
 
Do you know a techie who can help you with your EHD?

I had a similar problem with an old EHD. I thought it had died because I couldn't read anything anymore. I called the company (Seagate I believe) and it was still under warranty. But they told me I would have to send it in and they would replace it with a new one and would not be able to retrieve my data. So then my DH got on the phone and asked them what he could do to retrieve the data directly from the hard drive inside the EHD case. They told him we could open it up, but it would void the warranty. We needed an adapter to connect the hard drive to our computer - a IDE SATA to USB adapter. My DH opened it up (from the external's case), unscrewed the actual hard drive inside it and connected it with this adapter he bought at the local MicroCenter to one of our desktops. And it worked! The data was still there, it's just the USB connection inside the EHD case had failed and it couldn't access the data.

I wanted to tell you this just in case. Your hard drive might be fine inside, it might be the case and USB connection of the EHD that has the problem. It's worth checking out!
 
Just an FYI - the above freaked me out because I use backblaze so I contacted their tech support to find out what their standard policy is. This is their response:
If an account's subscription expires, then we delete the data in 21 days. If a user cancels his/her subscription, then we delete in 7 days. If a user logs into his/her account and deletes his/her computer, then we delete the data immediately.

I absolutely hate that this happened to you Tricia!!! I'm not sure why they deleted in 3 days... :(
