I have the WORST luck with EHD.. not even kidding you! Mine is connected to the computer, all lit up and seems to be working but my computer won't load it! UGH!

I have had so much trouble with them I was smart (or so I thought) and backed up with Backblaze.. well over the holidays it apparently expired and deleted all my backed up files! Are you effing kidding me?!

Not. Happy. Again. Keeping fingers crossed it's some weird thing and that it will load in a little bit.
 
Oh no Tricia - that SUCKS!!! Hope your computer recognizes it soon! Have you tried connecting it to another computer if you have one?!
 
That's horrible! Hope you get it worked out soon. And I was considering Backblaze...not anymore!
 
If you start your back-up with Backblaze again, your files will still be there. Might want to double check with customer service, but I had a payment issue, and when I noticed and started up again all my old back-up were still there.

I started my account back up but there was nothing on there anymore. They said that after 3 days they deleted my files. :(
 
That is just horrible Trish! I so hope that you are able to get your EHD working again. I just hate hearing stories like this, especially since you did the right thing by using an online back up system. They should not delete ever!
 
My credit card expired and they sent me like a million emails about it, if you contact them they may be able to get your information back.
 
oh no! crossing my fingers you can get it back! I'd be crying too.

I have Crash Plan, and although I'm not sure what they would do in a similar situation I just have to plug them because their price and customer service is awesome. I have been SO happy with them, and have heard some sad stories from Mozy and Backblaze users.
 
Yikes! I have had a couple of issues with my EHD lately. I gotta backup up the data to some DVDs soon!

I didn't get emails but when I finally turned my computer on after the holidays it did pop up telling me. If it hadn't been over the holidays I would of never had an issue but I literally went days (maybe a week) without touching my computer :(
 
Don't give up all hope. I just finally got an EHD to start working again after three years. I was able to save the photos. Yay! The funny thing is finding old digi scrap stuff on there from 2006-2008. LOL. Man, how things have changed! I still have two EHDs that are refusing to work however, but I still haven't given up hope on them. I recently started backing up to DVD after having so many failed EHDs. Ugh. I still haven't bit the bullet and tried online backup, but your story is a little scary.
 
I really wouldn't give up on Backblaze. I've used them for a few years now, had a crash, retrieved everything, switched laptops...nothing but good things to say about them.
 
I wish I had nothing but good things to say about them.. I still have none of my old files that were saved with them (my fault I guess) and I have contacted them but no replies at all.
 
I guess there will be those stories with almost every company. I always feel pretty confident with things having them backed to an ehd and then Backblaze, but maybe I should look into another back up too...just in case. It's really only my photos I'd care about. I can always buy more scrapping supplies.
