I got up at 7am this morning. On a Saturday. Why? Because butter was on sale at Smiths (Kroger) for $1.99/lb and I wanted to make sure I could get some! For those that don't know me, 9am is a much more likely time for me to get up - on Saturday it might even be 10am!

So it got me wondering, do you do things out of the ordinary for a great deal? Or a fabulous coupon? I know Black Friday shopping is a big thing for some, and that's one I don't do! But what about the rest of the year? Do you search out coupons and deals?

I love that Kroger went to digital coupons. I hated trying to remember to take all those pieces of paper to the store. I load them up on my card, buy stuff - forgetting what or how many the coupon requires - and then all those discounts show up! Kind of like a surprise present!

BTW - Bed, Bath, and Beyond coupons don't actually expire - and you can use more than one of those 20%-off-one-item coupons per order, as long as it is one per item. And if you forget them at home, if you bring the coupon in later with the receipt, they will give you credit for it.

Kohl's Cash -- I was able to use an expired one the day after the expiration date. She said if the cash register accepts it, they accept it. Woo Hoo - 2 sweaters and 1 shirt for $18.

What other stores give you good deals?

My friend has been scoring big lately with Old Navy. She signed up for the card because they have sent her coupons, and they gave her an extra 20% and free shipping on her last purchase! Plus, that way she buys two sizes, tries them on, and takes back the one to the store that doesn't fit without being out twice the price in her bank account.

I used to score big at gymboree sales, but munchkin is too big for most of the sale stuff there anymore.

I used to clip coupons but now that Smith/Kroger went digital that’s all I use for grocery shopping. In fact I am on my way over to Smith’s later today to get the $1.99 butter.

I also love the JCP coupons. I signed up for their free rewards so I get $10 off a $10 purchase coupons quite frequently. I also watch the free ads in the mail for their $10 off coupons. I’ve scored many pants and shirts for $5 or less. Last time I got two T-shirts absolutely free.

I love that Michael's coupons are on my phone now. I love Michael's and we have a brand new store that's pretty close now. I will definitely go there for their sales!

I used to be a coupon clipper - back "in the day" I even had subscribed to a magazine where people would list what coupons they wanted - and we'd do coupon exchanges. It was actually pretty fun!

I don't do coupons so much now - unless I stumble across a good one or two.

I do use WalMart Savings Catcher (I despise WalMart, but in our small community, there aren't many choices). Just type the receipt # on their saving catcher site under my account and prices are automatically matched. The balance is kept on the site - to use the $'s just have to bring the site up on my phone and the bar code is scanned like a coupon. I've only used it a few times (we don't shop WM too often) and have saved $25. Mostly on soda ... but I think every little bit helps.

I do love Kohl's cash too! :-)

I'm not real happy with Wal-Mart's savings catcher right now. It shows I have a balance of $0.00. Yet, I am supposed to have over $130 on there. I've been saving up since 2015 for a big purchase.

Evidently if you did not switch it over to an e-gift card, you lost everything you had. I never got any notification that was gong to happen. Even sent an email asking about the situation (to which they say they respond in 24 hours) and haven't gotten an answer. That was 7 days ago.

I'll still do my grocery shopping there as they are cheaper than the local grocery but to me savings catcher will be more of a way to find out what I have purchased in the past. And, that big purchase I was saving up for... I'll just go somewhere else when I'm ready to make the purchase.

I don't use coupons regularly. More often than not, most coupons I do get end up expiring. I am not the type to buy just because I have a coupon which is what a lot of companies want you to do. Then there are the ones that require a minimum purchase amount to get $5 off. Sorry, but I'm not going to overspend to get that $5.

I am also not a Black Friday shopper because I really don't need most of what is advertised. Any items that I might be interested in can usually be ordered online anyways.

My mom taught me to use coupons. She keeps her organized by date or type in an envelope. I have tried to use coupons but they're usually for stuff I don't buy much. Packaged unhealthy food. Occasionally I find store coupons for produce and try to use those.

I also subscribe to several store emails -- Michael's, Kohl's, JCPenney, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc -- and if I happen to decide to shop in one of them I search for their latest email. Mostly they just mean I waste several minutes of time every day or two deleting excessive email.

I don't do a lot of coupons, just on very specific items. I've found that I get better deals on store brands without a coupon than I do on name brands with one. But there are some things I have to purchase the name brand.

I do use WalMart's Saving's catcher and our local grocery store has digital coupons that I go through every now and then. I also love Kohl's Cash and I do get awesome deals at Old Navy. I also love my Starbucks gold card to get great deals and free drinks.

The coupons I use the most are fast food coupons and local restaurants. I always have a stack of them and we usually get fast food once a week or every other week.

I thought we'll be discussing TLP coupons! :) They are my favorite kind!
They aren't a big thing here, like in US. But almost every super market / grocery store has weekly promotions, so I stock up on the things we use the most, even if we haven't run out yet.
And "Extreme couponing" was my "guilty pleasure" show (before having a kid. OMG, how much time I've wasted!)

i was always the worst at coupons - but the store apps help me big time. Kohl's makes it so easy - so i always do really well with them. and i'm hit or miss with groceries - usually the stuff i want to buy is not on sale or does not have a coupon, but the digital coupons sometimes help (when i remember to load them!)

Oh my goodness! I was would be livid!!!!

I would be ticked! Did you try posting on their Facebook page? I've had faster results with big box stores through complaining on Facebook because my email 'was caught in the system'. :badmood I don't believe that for a minute.

Jill Me too re the Walmart Savings Catcher, and re Kohls I do not go shopping there unless I have the 20% off :)

My art supplies stash survives on coupons from either Michaels or JoAnns. My Michaels carries and phenomenal range of good high quality (read expensive) paints and supplies, so I love the coupons I get from both place. PLUS my Michaels accepts JoAnns coupons too, so I use them both! :)

This ^^^

I’ve used manufacturers coupons for a few different grocery items when they’ve been around - yogurt, frozen steamed vegetables and soup are the ones I remember off the top of my head.

Fast food coupons and coupon codes are probably the thing I use most though.

I use online coupons a lot, and often place orders that I might not have placed because I had an especially good coupon!

Not so much with paper coupons; it's hard for me to keep track of them, to remember to carry them, to remember I have them, etc. I've tried several methods of keeping track, but they all end up being more work and I toss most of them anyway for being expired. (It seems like my most-often bought things do not have coupons.)

I love that so many places accept email coupons on smartphones! I just tag them ("Coupons") and then can easily find them again when I'm out and about. But those are for bigger things, like dinners or craft store purchases (those seem to be equally expensive in my mind! LOL)
