I'm an A eater. When I was growing up, my mom raised corn (and by default, I guess I did too). When she fixed it, she would ask how ears we could eat. I remember saying 2 or 3. I'm sure they were smaller ears since home grown, but that sure sounds like a lot of corn to eat!!
My grandpa used to eat his twice - do an A and then go back with a B pattern to get any remaining bits.
My favorite way to fix it now is cut-off the ends, put in the plastic holders, and microwave on "vegetables" setting. Silk usually comes off with the husk, although burning your fingers is a concern. I love Mexican Street corn.
