Common Courtesy | Pad Patter 3.21

The thing I notice and ALWAYS comment on (so my kids hear me saying it) is when we go through a drive thru or even go in (when we used to do that) and someone at the counter at a fast food restaurant just stares at you. Most don't even say "May I help you?". SO rude. When the people at the drive thru are courteous, I always comment on it to my kids and say how nice it is to hear someone with manners. I always say thank you to them and it's pretty rare to hear them even acknowledge it or say you're welcome back. It's such a simple thing, but is so easy and so nice!

Chick-fil-a has the most courteous employee. When you say thank you, they say "my pleasure". It always warms my heart and makes me happy when they respond in such a polite manner! I feel like royalty when I go there... we love, love, love Chick-fil-A!

I haven't read this thread, but when I pay for something and they don't say "thank you". If they say anything it's "here you go" when they hand you the receipt. I usually say "thanks for letting me spend my money here" or "you're welcome". Boils my blood!

I agree with all of the above on please and thank you, shocking how many people don't seem to know the words. And giving someone worse of than you or elderly, your seat on the bus ,used to be common practice, but not any more. But one even more annoying thing on busses is when people (young and old ) do not remove their backpack when standing in the aisle . It takes up room, and it hurts when it hits you,-and they do,- when the buses brakes, or when they need to get of....
Last but not least; Stay in the Que....please just respect that everyone's time is as valuable as yours, and if they were there first, then get behind them.

I live in Finland, here people take their shoes off before get into the house, but there's people that simply step with shoes, which is a total lacking of respect,
LoL funny thing about that . I am Danish and we remove our shoes too. But I am married to a Maltese, and we live in Malta, and Maltese houses have tile floors,so no one here removers their shoes, it takes some getting used to...

Oh yes! We always have a great and polite experience at Chick-fil-A too! We love going there. The closest ones are about 45 minutes to an hour away and whenever we are in the big enough towns, we try to go there. :agree

Funny thing about the shoes. Here in Alberta, people take their shoes off when they enter someone else's house. Just common courtesy not to dirty up floors or carpets with whatever is outside. But when we lived in Ontario, we would go into a house and automatically take off our shoes and the host would be "what are you doing?". It was interesting how customs change even within the same country. I never got used to it.
