I am a huge advocate for the Oxford comma! It just makes more sense to me in my head and when I say it out loud. Do you use the Oxford comma or no?
 
Yes! I love Oxford commas. :luvya They seem so much clearer in most cases. Not using them looks very wrong to me!

There are a lot of other great memes illustrating the clarity aspect, but I'm too polite to share my favorites here. :giggle
 
you're lucky to get capitals out of me in the forum- yeah i'm a lazy typist and one of the birds pulled the comma key off one of my old laptops and i just got used to putting hyphens in instead - my kids even correct my grammar when it's written but i usually add commas to their speeches b/c they talk waaay too fast without them

When Do I Use the Serial Comma?
The simple answer is that in Australia and New Zealand, we don’t routinely make use of the serial comma. That means you definitely don’t put it before every ‘and’ in a list of more than two items. In fact, we only use it when it is necessary for clarity or to avoid confusion.

Maybe that's why i don't know of it - Aussies are meant to use capitals though, so that's just me :giggle
 
I'm English - we use the Oxford Comma. We'd get into a lot of trouble at school for missing it out, and loose marks in exams for missing it too.
 
I use a lot of commas.. sometimes more than I should... never knew it was called oxford though.... I use it sometimes before the "and", and sometimes I don't. I use it most of the time though :) I love reading things.. that comma can change things!
 
I do not use the oxford comma. I was taught that it was incorrect to put a comma before the and, so it always looks wrong to me. I didn't even know that it was a thing until I started seeing memes about it recently. :giggle
 
I use the oxford comma unless it makes sense without it. What I don't use much anymore is periods, like: AM PM DR ST
I search databases for names at church and the periods always get in the way and throw the search off.
 
I use it - although I was taught both ways - (going to school in three different states can do that to you). What I tend to overuse are ! and -. I love me a good dash !!!!!
 
I just remembered why I don’t use them. I proof read a paper for a friend after I graduated from college and added in Oxford commas. Her professor marked her down for using them and I felt terrible. Ever since, I’ve omitted them.
 
I was taught to use them but truly never knew it had a name. Now, while I may put one it, it usually looks 'wrong' to me and I will tend to take it out. This is mostly in layout journaling as I rarely have an opportunity to write much of anything anymore! Texting has a standard (Ha!) of its own.
