While we are "Roughing It!!" this week, making a fire to stay warm, cook, or keep the mosquitoes away can be quite important. It's also imperative for making s'mores! HA!

For this challenge, you'll make a page that represents the spark a fire needs to light.
1) You can take this figuratively and tell a life story in which a tiny moment or idea changes everything. Perhaps your spark story is quite deep about how you discovered your career path or met your partner. You could write specifically about that one article you read that led to some major soul-searching and ultimately a monumental decision to move across the country. You could lean more lighthearted, like when something funny caused you to try sushi for the first time, and now it's your new fave? The story can be yours or anyone's that you choose.
OR
2) You could also take the building a fire prompt with a literal slant and use "fiery" colors or layering techniques like how one "builds a fire" with layers of kindling and wood to ensure it burns well. Obviously it's not literally literal as in you are not burning your page, but you get the idea of

You decide how you want to tackle this challenge of starting your fire and explain your method when you post your page below.

I made a page telling the story of how my husband and I met. One little spark of an idea to ask a friend if she knew anyone that might be a good guy led to over 30 yrs of joy.

Here is a great example using Method 2 of "building a fire" by @Angela Toucan
Notice how she used elements to stack and layer to build a fire. She said she was inspired by the arrangement of sticks to build a fire with a cooking pot arranged on the top.

Thanks for hosting Krista! Here is mine... One day trying something I had no clue what it was (had I known, I would not have tried) and it started a fire that now I love blackened Ahi Tuna in addition to tuna salad!

I used both methods because I thought of a sort of small thing I did -- at least it was a quick decision -- that made a huge change in my life over the last year, and then I made a fiery, sparkling, layered page. I'd also like it to be known that I journaled about this in my Day One (digital) journal first, in full prose, with names and other details, for hundreds of words. So if the journaling here seems vague, that's why, and it's ok. I scrap more for printing my photos than for journaling anymore. I enjoy making photoless pages occasionally though.

@elwaechter What a story!! I LOVE it! He really swept you off your feet!

My take on the challenge is another love spark. My husband took 3 long years to work up the courage to ask me out. All along I thought he wasn't interested (He's the quiet mysterious type). So when he took me out on our first date a fire was lit, and it hasn't gone out in 28 years!

I went literal with this, documenting the tragic wildfires in Jasper in 2024:

These summer camp challenges seem to have me being a bit nostalgic -- reaching back to 1996 camping trip. A literal fire, but building on a family tradition so to speak. Even though we didn't go often, it remains a special spot still.

Flames and wood represented a the bottom, photo is main fire and BG circle paper and stringbats are the sparks flying above a fire. Thanks for hosting!
