We learned recently that Jenn @jk703 is a habitual cleaner. As in she cleans a little everyday.
Me? I'm a mad rush cleaner. Sure the dishes are done, and the counters wiped down daily, but everything else? Usually once a week I go on a cleaning frenzy. Vacuum (I do aim for twice a week on this), sweep, mop, clutter spots, dusting. Except laundry. Laundry is washed, dried, folded and put away on Mondays.

How about you? What kind of cleaner are you? Is there a chore that just has to be done so you can relax?

I tend to keep everything tidy and the washing up to date. I am very blessed to have a lady twice a week to do the bathrooms, floors and general cleaning & ironing. I find that if the place looks tidy you can overlook a little dirt. If it is hectic you see every little spot.

I do major cleaning once a week, usually on Saturday morning if we don't have sports going on. That's when I clean bathrooms, dust, mop, etc. Laundry is a couple of times a week, like mid-week and catch up on the weekend. It's not so bad now that there's just 3 of us. When there were 5, I had to do at least one load ever day. Laundry gets put away on Sunday usually. I cannot stand to have to search for things in piles all week. I straighten the house every day...dishes, pick up, and just generally tidy things up before I go to bed. It makes me feel better when I leave for work and come home to at least a "straight" house.

Ugh. I'm not a cleaner. I just don't like it. I do like doing laundry though.
The dishes are done (usually), I vacuum once a week (usually) and since it's just me there is not too much clutter. I could tidy and clean up a whole lot in 30 minutes. Which is what I do when I know someone comes over. Kitchen and bathroom are cleaned regularly throughout the week.
I hate dusting. And I'm not a fan of mopping either.

I can sit back and relax just fine when my house isn't spotless.

I have a tidy house and kitchen gets cleaned after each meal but deep cleaning gets done about once a week.

Ugh. I'm embarrassed at how bad of a house cleaner I am. Like seriously. I do pretty well at the kitchen and my hubby does the family room (front part of our house) but as you move the back of the house... it gets pretty neglected. I guess it's that out of sight, out of mind thing. We always joke that it's a good thing we have people come over frequently or we'd never clean anything. So I guess I'm a mad dash cleaner who cleans when I know someone is coming over. Otherwise, I'd rather spend my free time scrapping or crafting.

While I'm a habitual neatener, and my house might be cleaner than many, I'm not a good deep cleaner. :giggle I make the hubby and boys help, because I hate cleaning. I'm really good at organizing, wiping things down, and neatening.

We all clean the house together - Boys all get one bathroom, and I get the other. Shayne vacuums, Colin dusts and wipes things down. I sweep, and boys get the little dustpan and follow me around, lol. I mostly do the kitchen, but that's more daily so it's easier. Boys are good at putting dishes in teh sink, and now I'm trying to tell/make/teach them how to load the dishes after they bring them in. They empty the dishwasher when needed. Boys wipe tables down a few times a week, since they are messy, as well as me a few times too. Peter does windows and other random things and some vacuuming. We do laundry throughout the week, and boys help fold. Boys put away the laundry after it sits in the LR since no one actually puts laundry away right after we fold it, lol!

My almost 3yo loves to 'help' with the chores so I try to do them after school when he's downstairs playing with his sister or after he's in bed. :giggle

The dishes are done every day because we have no dishwasher & the kitchen is teeny-tiny. I sweep the kitchen & dining room every day, too, because of the aforementioned almost 3yo.

I save the big jobs, like cleaning the bathroom, for Wednesday mornings when my mom takes my son for a few hours.

Unfortunately, I don't get twitchy when a chore is left undone. I do them because you're supposed to do them not because it bothers me if they're not done. I mean, sure, EVENTUALLY it would bother me to have a 2 inch layer of filth & Legos to wade through but not at first. :giggle

I have a hard time focusing on projects if things are not at least tidy. I have four kiddos (1-8yrs), so that sometimes is a hard thing to accomplish. The saying, "My house was clean 30 minutes ago, sorry you missed it" is very true around here. I will say that for the most part it is "clean" even though there may be legos, barbies, books, etc on the floor. My kiddos have chores each day that they have to do to get free/screen time. I also have chores set for myself before I can have screen time (though sometimes I don't get them done, the perks of being the mom :-) ) Saturdays we usually take a few hours in the morning to really clean (sweep, mop, vacuum, dust). My bathrooms are the worst. If I could have someone come in like twice a month to really clean them, then I would be very happy....I am trying to train at least one of my kiddos for this ;)

I really think I'm a lot like Jenn @jk703 . . . I pick up clutter and my son and hubby do the same, although Daniel is still in training. LOL Like putting your own shoes away in the closet when you take them off, hanging up jackets, putting backpacks, bags, purses in their designated spots, mail goes on hubby's desk and he handles that daily, dirty clothes are put in the laundry room in the basket, etc.

Dishwasher runs once a day, usually in the evening. Dishes from breakfast and lunch usually just get put in the sink (it's minimal, like from sandwiches) until I unload the dishwasher, and I usually do that in the afternoon. Beds are made daily. Bathrooms are wiped up daily or every other day, depending on usage.

Everything else I have to wait on my hubby or son . . . vacuuming and sweeping and mopping and cleaning the tubs . . . those are things I just don't do anymore because of my back. It does bother me that it's not done when I want it done, but I keep my mouth shut because I'm just grateful there is someone else to help me do it! LOL

Dusting is my domain because of all my collectibles, but I honestly hate doing it. So don't look too close if you come to the house! LOL

We all share the cleaning responsibilities. My husband and I both work full time so we all have to do our parts.

I've had to come to grips with the fact that my hubby and son are both just messy, especially my son. I don't want to constantly be badgering them and making us all miserable, so I accept a certain amount of mess. I do make my son pick up from time to time and he has certain chores he does around the house. My daughter is a neat freak and cleans up a lot. Then, we have a cleaning person do the deep cleaning every two weeks. In between, I will pick stuff up, clean the kitchen and do an occasional vacuum to keep things from getting too dirty. I am sort of conflicted about it because I'd like the house to be neat all the time but I refuse to be the "maid" picking up everyone else's dirty socks and water bottles, etc. Sigh.

With two kids, a husband and a sister that do almost nothing..

Ugh...
that is all I can say... Ugh!!

:hairpol

It is changing though... muah-ha-ha

I'm learning lots. ...like i need to hire someone else to clean once a month! :rollin

Oh boy I am not a cleaner for sure. I would love to have the house spotless but it is just not realistic for us and whats so embarrassing is we don't even have kids just me the hubs and 2 doggies (babies). I try to keep the main rooms tidy and clean but the bedrooms when company is over we just keep them doors closed lmao

I get so angry though when I "am" trying to do some major clean ups and then turn around and seems like every space I have cleared off the hubs comes in and tosses stuff back onto. Or better yet make the bed or tidy the living room and our youngest pooch unmakes the bed or rips one of his toys to shreds right after I have vaccumed! I be like :banghead :furious :overreact :rollingpin

we (i say we but i mean i...anyway - laundry is done daily (1-2 loads) but i try to have one day where i dont do any - otherwise it feels like my life is that groundhog day movie with Bill Murray, which i may have seen more times than reasonable...
vaccuuming is about 3 times a week (especially when the birds moult feathers)
it feels never ending though and
The saying, "My house was clean 30 minutes ago, sorry you missed it"
is true here too the second people come home i feel like i wasted my day

This one is weird for me. If you came to my house right now (we have six living here) you'd think I was raised in a barn. There's NO mistaking my house for Donna Reed's... at. All. Ever. I scoop the litter boxes on a daily basis and when I cook (luckily it's not a lot.) I wash the pans and stuff as I go so by the time I'm done, there's dinner in whatever main pot or dish and it looks like I wasn't even in there.

However, laundry gets done when it's dire, there's piles of (clean) clothes (and some dirty ones..) everywhere, my counter is a mess and my in-laws would NOT be happy.

Now.. here's the weird part. I've accepted that I'm like this, however, when I went to Korea and was in this OMGTINYBUTAMAZINGANDCUTE apartment, I caught myself off-guard. I mean, I guess I should have realized it, my house is always messy but my work place is always immaculate. (I'm talking down to the exact angle my pens and post it notes are lain out... also my water bottle is at a certain place and turned so the spout is perfect so all I have to do is reach over distractedly and drink then put it back down. I can tell if ANY of it is even slightly moved... my boss used to be silly and move things over or tilt the other way.. never failed to amuse her I had to micro-adjust..)

Anyway, in this little space since it was just me, I was free to do what I wanted. You'd think it would be a wreck, but I swept and mopped every day, everything had to be perfect just like I was at work. o.O So.. I have no idea which kind of cleaner I am...

There are only two of us in our house, so it's pretty neat and tidy. IMO, hubs keeps "too" much stuff - meaning papers, magazines, etc etc. He has his own little drawer to keep that stuff in (LOL)!! He has learned if he doesn't put it away I will throw it out!! He also has a small basket he throws his keys, billfold, sunglasses, etc in rather than throwing them on the kitchen counter. And that basket is tucked away so it's not in the open. I don't like clutter!

Clean-wise ... I am a clean-freak too. I enjoy cleaning and really like to organize things! The closets are organized and tidy. I think it's borderline OCD! The grandkids have a TON of toys at our house and the smaller things (Little People, Weebles, Hot Wheels cars, Crayons, books, etc) are stored in a Rubbermaid drawer system and kept in a closet. But - everything is separated out in the drawers - Harper knows when she picks up she needs to put things in the "proper" place! LOL!!

I do laundry a few times a week and clean the bathroom every morning after I get ready for work. The kitchen is always clean (and of course, neat). In the spring & summer I wash the windows at least once a month.

See, O C D ??

I'm at work right now and when I look around, it's pretty much the same thing - everything is neat and organized. Sometimes I think people think I must not do anything because I never have much of a mess around me!!

And - I think the lack of liking clutter is one thing that drew me to digital scrapping ... no mess!!! :crazy3

While I don't like cleaning. I grew up with a slightly OCD mom that passed on the "every thing in its place and a place for every thing" So I'm a very neat and tidy person. My house is the same. I have every thing in its place and I keep things tidy and clean like that. The only place I don't touch is hubs desk, he's a cluttery type guy and keeps every paper mail etc that hits his desk so I usually "allow" him a few months before I attack it and can't stand to look at it. ROFL

I do things like , vacuum, dust, bathrooms etc. on a weekly/biweekly basis depending on traffic and weather. Laundry is every week.

I am avoiding this post because I might have to clean if I read it. Oops - too late. I promise to vacuum today....

And I will clean the downstairs because guests are coming on Thursday.
