So it's here. Christmas Day. I enjoyed tracking Santa via Google last night as they showed his sleigh tracking across the globe per time zone.

Is there anything that you have to do on Christmas Day? A tradition or something special that without that one thing it would just not feel like Christmas?

For 33 years we did a roast gammon (ham) and trifle for lunch on Christmas Day. Through highs and lows, in-laws being outlaws etc. This year the kids decided to visit family that were sick just days ago, that declined to get covid tested but are "all better now", for lunch today. * and then sleep away from home for a few days. So we celebrated last night in a more German tradition and I am fine. I think this pandemic has changed the way many folk do things, same/different.

I watched a movie that had this quote: Traditions are stories that families write together. I have to use it on my scrapbook page. I love being the story teller, memory keeper, documenter. I love celebrating all the things I am thankful for. My faith and my family.

Stefanie @Eyeore Glad you are still having a wonderful Christmas despite changes in plans. Merry Christmas to you and your family! :tree

I am sorry that your plans changed. I am glad you are making the best of it.

We must be the Grinchiest of people because we don’t even decorate. I do a photo shoot with Charlotte all dressed up in her Santa finery and that’s about it for us.

I am actually still in bed enjoying a lovely day off. Probably going to watch more Christmas movies today. Yesterday we watched the Benedict Cumberbatch Grinch which I like better than the original. Our copy of the new Bond film came in the mail so we watched that as well though not a Christmas film. Today will be Christmas vacation.

Merry Christmas Stephanie

We did Christmas Eve at my parents with my brother and his family which was nice.

This morning I took Harlow out for a nice walk…..it was 55F, foggy, muddy, and not feeling very Christmassy. Came home, made a coffee and read until Braeden got up. We did our gifts to each other, Harlow opened her bag of new stuffies and treats. Made some cinnamon rolls, chatted and have just done our thing for the rest of the day.

We will be headed to my parents shortly for dinner and the evening. Braeden will head over to his dad and stepmom’s tomorrow. A nice, quiet Christmas.

I didn't decorate. With Karen passing in July, not having her to play santa for just has left us empty. But do feel her spirit is here with us, in her hope chest. She is safe and happy. Have her favorite movie going the christmas story, she called the little boy, So nice to have a warm feeling in this memory

My immediate family (DD and her three kids) skipped our bigger family gathering at the last minute b/c my youngest sister’s family had a potential COVID exposure.

I spent the day cooking, cleaning up, cooking again, cleaning up ... I enjoyed our smaller gathering as did the kids. However, if we do this again I’m getting deli platters and snacks foods vs. cooking brunch and dinner.

Christmas Eve we went to my mom's for brunch and then at 5 pm we went to my dad's for snacks and sweets. We had Christmas brunch at our house this morning and then went to my MIL's for dinner at 4 pm. We're all exhausted and a bit shell-shocked by all the interaction over the past 2 days. The pandemic has made us overly aware that while we love our families and our contact with them, each one of us prefers to go our separate ways when we return home and are just quiet. LOL We had lots of good food, laughter, and so many fun presents!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy time!

We had Christmas Eve at our oldest dd's - opened gifts, then had a wonderful meal that we all pitched in with. We ended up having way too much food and I still feel like a stuffed toad today. Just stick me with a fork - I'm done

We spent a good part of Christmas Day in the car. We had to drive about an hour and a half to take my youngest gs to meet his dad. That was fun - haha. I thought it would give me more time with him but he had his nose in his phone the whole way. Haha It was a beautiful, warm day and my youngest dd and I had fun on the way back home. We stopped the car a couple of times and took some pictures - there are lots of rocks that hang out over the roads and we found some beautiful little bridges. Then we kind of got lost, but we didn't care, so we really weren't lost. We could get a signal on our navigator because we were way off the beaten path. We laughed a lot and finally found our way back to civilization. Sometimes it's fun to just "get lost".

Cath @cath sending you hugs. Christmas isn't easy for some of us.

We actually haven't got together for Christmas yet....was going to be super low key anyway but we will be seeing family at the end of the week instead. Ideally it would have been a full celebration but due to circumstances it wasnt a possiblity this year....the main thing is family will see each other. its not all 5 of us together at once but these things happen

I love that quote!
It was pretty normal around here. DH, Chance, and I got up and did our gift thing fairly early. I got that cleaned up and took a little nap before my older two, their spouses and the 4 grandkids came over. They all got here around 4:30, and my mom as well. We did more gift opening and ate some finger foods. I was just commenting today about how things change when the kids are grown and on their own. You just kind of have to go with the flow. I usually tell them just to come by when they can. I know they have lots of other commitments so I don't plan any sit down dinners, just appetizers and drinks :)
