Boxing Day is an official holiday. We don't celebrate the historical way at my house. Instead, boxing day had become the day we pack up any returns, get boxes out to the recycle bin, and avoid the stores!
My brother in Canada uses Boxing Day to purchase any gifts he forgot. And drive to the states to mail them {border town}.

How about you? Any day after Christmas traditions? Do you take down the decorations? Do you go out to eat? Is it back to work as normal?

Nope. Last year I went shopping to get cheap holiday decor, something I hadn't done in many years. Today I'm staying home because I had such a busy week last week, I'm relishing a few days home. So far today I've worked on some house cleaning and organizing on my computer. I'm taking a break now while I eat my lunch of leftovers from yesterday.

My only tradition for this day is to make Christmas disappear. I'm taking a break from packing it all up. I just like to be able to sit back and relax the rest of my break without all that mess hanging over my head. I probably won't do the outside stuff today because it's just too darn cold to stay out there very long lol. We are going to spend the rest of the day eating up all the leftovers and avoiding the stores. I'm also cleaning up and backing up my PC and getting everything ready for the new year.

Our tradition is to take it easy! Even though we used disposable plates, I'm still washing dishes from yesterday, and by washing, I mean loading and unloading the dishwasher. We usually don't even leave the house. Today, though, I decided it was time for an eye exam! But I was only out of the house for about an hour. Tomorrow, we will start to put Christmas away.

Boxing day here means they want to play with and un-box absolutely everything - yesterday (it's the 27th here as i'm typing) we built scooters, hot wheels tracks, lego, waited for downloads and updates and after that i got to read cos i'd had enough and scrapped some last night. It's only really just gone through that shops can open in regional areas on the 26th to trade so traditionally it has been the 27th to hit up shops for discounts (this is our Black Friday). Today I'm procrastinating going anywhere and i'm over hearing 'i want' from kids who really are spoilt and 1 of them gets more stuff for their b'day tomorrow anyway. i think i need a word that means 'Boxing Day Grinch'!

I popped out first thing bright and early to get to the mall when it opened. I got BOGO at the pajama/lingerie store and bought new jammies and robes. Also got a jacket and sweater at a great price. Spent the rest of the day hanging out with my hubs and now we’re watching a bunch of shows we had pvr’d.

Boxing Day is my Dad's birthday. My Dad's best friend's birthday is Christmas. So the two families always get together on boxing day for dinner and a gift exchange. Only shopping I did was to order some heavily discounted furnace filters from Amazon.
BUT, at the same time it's looking like Ruth has the strep throat that her sister had last week. We will be taking her to see a doctor tomorrow.

It's an actual holiday day in the Netherlands and most stores and services are closed.
For many people it's the say to visit grandparents and celebrate Christmas. Since I don't have any grandparents anymore, it's just a relaxing day. We planned on going for a walk but the weather was horrible and I was kinda done with socializing so I stayed home and read most of the day. :)

My oldest boy's birthday is Boxing Day, so I spend the day preparing for a large family get together. We had a lovely time exchanging Christmas gifts from those who we didn't see Christmas Day, and then the big birthday party. We have too many to fit around a single table, so DH numbers people off to split them between the two tables (we put up a table in the living room, but we're open concept house, so every still interacts). It was a good time, but I'm glad that it's over, so I can finally relax after the Christmas rush and the Boxing Day party!

Nothing special for us. We spent the day traveling to my mother-in-love and arrived late last night. Just hanging out here and visiting with friends and family.
