Today being DS's birthday and in the middle of a heat wave, we went to the movies for some of the day. We finally got to the second Fantastic Beasts movie (it's in it's last days here) & while the kids have been begging to see it, I think other people just went and saw anything for the sake of the air conditioning. I think it ended up being the best movie I've seen this year, everything from the plot and magic-y effects i really liked, which brings me to today's topic:

What's been the best movie / book / [insert your own category] to you of this year? What made it so great?

(am headed to bed but I'll pop back in the morning)

Um... I can't remember which movies I've seen this year. Isn't that bad? We watch a lot of Netflix, Amazon Prime movies, and rent a lot from Redbox. So, I don't know what has been my favorite.

We just came back from seeing Bumblebee. I liked it! We saw Mary Poppins last week and liked that, too. I have been enjoying a lot of the British shows they stream on Netflix (Call the Midwife, Father Brown...). But as far as documentaries are concerned my favorite has been "Sustainable". I highly recommend it.

Same here!
I would say that my favorite book of the year was The Broken Girls by Simone St. James.

It's always so hard for me to pick a best of anything. Like Jan I have a bad memory. Also like Jan I enjoyed Call The Midwife, way back at the beginning of the year. I've enjoyed several other movies. And lots of videos. And 17 books (just confirmed that on my Goodreads :giggle ). Lots and lots and LOTS of podcasts too!

Oh! I could pick my favorite of the vloggers I discovered this year: Eamon & Bec. They're vanlifers in Canada, inspiring and just fun to watch.

I've been thinking about this basically all day. I know The Sound of Gravel was my most favorite book I read this year, but there are others that were up there, too. :)

My fave podcast is one that has a naughty word in the title, but it's "A Real Houswives' breakdown" podcast. One word is "Sesh." Entertainment Weekly named it one of the best of the year! I showed that to DH to legitimize it cuz he doesn't get my love for RH or for that podcast! Both my fave book and podcast are in this LO.

I watch too many shows to pick just one, but I did binge Made in Chelsea this year (via Hulu). I just "caught up" on Hulu--through series 13--a couple weeks ago. Now I'm freaking out because I can't find series 14 here in the States! Hulu better get it asap.

This is tough for me, too. We both read a LOT and we watch mostly Amazon Prime and Netflix in the evening. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel just started Season 2 on Amazon Prime. So far, we're not quite as sure that we like it as much as we liked Season 1. We also started watching 7 Days Out, last night, on Netflix. I believe it just started. Last night we watched 7 days of The Westminster Dog Show and 7 days of a huge restaurant opening in NYC. We love chef-related shows, though, and one of our other favorites is Chef's Table. I think it's starting some new episodes, too. 7 Days Out and Chef's Table are documentaries, which we like very much.

We watched Season One of Goliath (with Billy Bob Thornton) but Season 2 took a gory turn and we don't like that, so we quit watching it. I get suggestions and updates from Amazon at least once a week and put stuff that I think we'd like on our Watchlist.

I saw my favorite movie of all time at the beginning of 2018. Once you take the film for what it is and not an actual depiction of P.T. Barnum (who was decidedly not awesome IRL), it's perfect -- the underdog characters you want to root for, forbidden true love, catchy songs & dances, incredible costuming & cinematography. It makes you believe in goodness, people, love, hope, everything we want our lives to be filled with.

This is my favorite movie of 2018. It's probably in my top ten of favorite movies of all time. I was (and am) sooo, sooo, sooo Lara Jean & Peter is exactly like the boy I was madly in love with in high school (but never loved me back). PK is such a swoonworthy but realistic character which doesn't happen often in teen movies or rom-coms.

Hardly saw any movies this year but my fave was Wonder which I scrapped about. I wanted to see a few more over the year during film festivals but it just didn’t happen

Best movie was probably Black Panther. I didn't see many movies this year and plan on trying to see more in 2019 (we'll see if it actually happens).

My top 3 Disney memories:

Meeting Goofy and Mickey at the Visa meet with Nana as they fawned all over her. It still makes me a bit misty eyed.

When Nana had her eyes closed in all the photos with the Beast and the CMs at Be Our Guest gave us a voucher to come back and meet the Beast without eating at the restaurant. The second meeting was so very magical. Nana loves the Beast and he even got down on her level.

The day I met 54 unique characters in one operating day at WDW. I was one away from my goal.
