I always have made my bed and still do. I can't imagine that changing in my lifetime. My dil goes one step beyond me and she and her children iron their sheets. I'll iron pillow cases once in a while but not the sheets. They are smooth enough since they are hung out to dry.

I have a duvet and a fitted sheet so it's just a fluff. Less than a minute. Sometimes I will leave the duvet off or folded down just to air the bed which reminds me of my first trip to Europe (not England!). In England back in the 60s they had the bottom sheet (not fitted) the top sheet, the blanket and then these satin quilted comforters that only covered the top of the bed and of course slipped off with any movement. But on the continent, they had these down comforters that were hung out the window every morning and put back some time later in the day. I never did notice when that time was.

I grew up with my Nana's home made down comforters though she called them 'feather ticks' because the feathers came from her geese and the main cover was made from blue and white ticking. Nana had also made most of the pillows we used and every few years they got a new ticking cover.
We have a duvet too.. got it when we first got back from Germany in 2002.. we have gotten a few since then. I like the bed made done every day. I just need to .. hubby will make it if I don't .. we have the duvet and a comforter with a fitted sheet and it is easy. When I stay at someone's house I also make the bed. I don't make the bed when I stay in a hotel. :)

I don't make my bed, especially since I'm out of the house before my hubby even gets up. He will go in spurts where he makes the bed, but it usually only lasts about two days before we go back to an unmade bed. Usually the only time we do make the bed up nice with all the throw pillows is when we have company coming over. I call it "putting on airs" Lol!

I've never heard of those things. I'm unsure if they would lHmmm.... I'm a bed maker, but we are also simple. We use one duvet/comforter, so we straighten that up, and we are done. Whoever gets out of the bed last makes it usually. As for my kids... Colin is on the top bunk, and just rolls his blanket up. Shayne is on a left bed, and I can't see up there... so occasionally I'll ask them to fold their covers.

We are in a ranch house, and it's super tiny. So, if people walk to my sons room they can see in mine. I'd rather have my bed made so that it looks neat. It just makes the whole room look neater with such a little effort, lol!

Good morning! I just remembered another reason I often don't make the bed. I'm the morning bird and my husband is usually still in the bed when I get up.

Our bedrooms are upstairs so it's rare that anyone ever sees them.

so now most mornings I unmake my bed even further than it was when I got up, pulling the bedding down and draping it across the footboard.

Since my husband gets up after I do most mornings, this is what he does every morning with ours. I usually pick up the draped part from the floor so I can walk by. I do usually wash our sheets twice a week because I like sleeping on clean, smooth sheets. Then I make the bed, but yeah, those decorative pillows spend more time piled on the floor than on the bed.

Kids are on their own. Whatever. DD washes her own sheets. DS is only here on weekends, so his get cleaned less frequently.
