Bath or Shower| Pad Patter 1.8

Shower hands down! I would love one like this- when we buy our house:

I don't like sitting in dirty water, and clawfoot tubs are cumbersome to enter/exit. I wouldn't turn down a
whirlpool tub, though the only time I used one was on a romantic getaway at a posh hotel. I put too much bubble stuff in it and we slid all over the place- NOT romantic, but definitely hilarious! But Jan @IntenseMagic brought a good point-
with kids, even grands, a tub is really practical. And then the other ways to use one...

We all take showers now. When the kids were smaller I would let them take baths and even just play in the water for long periods of time.

I used to take baths every once in a while to relax...but I haven't done that in at least 10 years.

I think I would like to have 1 bathtub in my house just for when little kids visit or for filling the tub in storms or for cleaning different items.

I would say to your friend build for your own needs, not the needs of a potential buyer - after all she's the one living in it now.
This is what we said. But since it's an expensive house, she wants to be able to appeal to buyers later.

it helps my fibromyalgia pain.
I'm glad to hear that! I know my friend likes baths for her arthritis pain.

We had one potential contractor tell us to NOT put any bathtubs in our bathrooms because no one uses them anymore.
Really? That's interesting. Out here, the contractor was telling her to put baths in all the bathrooms, and it cost extra to have the downstairs one as just a shower. Her mom is with them, and can't do a tub so that was a necessity.

We also have a giant jacuzzi tub in our master bath that NEVER gets used.
A different friend I have has one of those. Her kids used it as a swimming pool when they were young! Literally, she would have two or three kids in their swimsuits hanging out in it. :giggle I used it after two hard days of moving and cleaning. It was so wonderful to relax in it!

We all wear glasses, and we can't quite see in the shower to shave our legs
Also, I am blind as a bat without my glasses so I can shave better in the tub vs the shower since I can wear them haha.

I didn't even think of this! But it's so true! I do shave in the shower, but I need the extra space so the shower doesn't water my glasses.

One builder had the only shower above a bath and we were trying to work out what else looked a bit odd - it took a surprisingly long time to work out he had forgot to include a toilet in the plan - we didn't go with him.
So, when the builder changed the downstairs to accommodate the shower, they were looking over plans. Somehow, a toilet had been placed in the middle of the kitchen. They asked to have it removed. The builder said of course! We never would have built that....

I still wonder if they would have built the toilet there or if someone would actually have caught that!

Real question: Do you bathe the dog inside? We always did it outside because he made such a mess! So we started hiring it out.

Yes, inside. He just stands there all sad looking, lol!

Ha... he's like a small person... 85 pounds! The hard part is getting him in and over the tub side. He's really tall, but we have to help him along since he doesn't really want to go in. (Same for a car ride, as I pick up his hind legs and he looks at me: please no, lol!)

The other hard part is that we have doors on our tub... so to clean such a big dog, we have to have one slider open and reach around, then switch doors to get the other end.

After clean, we close the doors... and he shakes in the shower contained. So, in that sense, no real mess.

@AJK I dream of this type of shower!

I can’t do the rainhead shower because water would run down my face. I guess it comes from years of wearing glasses and I hate it when my glasses get wet!! We are getting a shower “system” in our master that does have a hand held as well as a regular shower head. But no rain heads!

I used to use the tub to give Pepper and Paige a bath in between grooming appointments. It hurt my back to lean over the tub to do it so I would usually have to climb in the tub with them which wasn't much better. Now with Peyton, I do it in the shower when I'm taking a shower. She can't go anywhere because of the glass door and I have the handheld shower head that I use with her on the built in bench. Much easier. I also leave her in there to shake while I dry off outside. Then I wrap her in a huge towel, trying to get more of the moisture off of her and let her shake some more while still in the bathroom. When I open the door, she does her "run like h*ll" around the house dragging the towel with her. Advantages to having a 10 pound dog!

What I would really like is a nice size laundry sink in the basement to use to bathe her and soak anything I need to laundry wise. Then she could run around the basement and it wouldn't hurt anything since it is just cement!

Ha Ha... .we have a nice deep laundry sink... but Benson would be more out than in.... :giggle

1) Does anyone in your house bathe? Or just showers only? Or both?
I have one son, that will shower with tub plug in and lay in the tub while shower fills it!
I think he has gills! haha
I hate bathes, gross me out.
but my grands love it, and I can sit and talk to them playing in the tub for a long time

2) Does having a tub matter if you were buying a house?
A tub is important. I also use the tub to wash my blinds! bhahah!

I think it is imperative to have a full bath downstairs... I will tell you if someone were to get ill and can't climb stairs (or then getting one of those stair lifters) it is not very convenient. I have one friend's brother that is now terminal with cancer and his other brother has to come by daily to bring him up or downstairs so that he can shower as there is no shower downstairs.

We have only a half bath downstairs, and it irritates me if we should ever get sick and can't go up and down the stairs.

My kid does this sometimes. I like to plug the tub and put epsom salts int he bottom while I shower. That way my feet can soak.

This is why they are moving, and building a house! She currently only has a water closet (sink and toilet) downstairs, so it's a big deal when grandma needs to shower. My friend is worried she'll fall down the stairs, with good reasons.

Absolutely!! Good luck with her new home :) Personally I want to move and live in a ranch / single story house!

Those are really hard to find here!
I will say, at my stage of life with DH working graves, I much prefer two stories. I like being able to keep the noise downstairs. But I loved our ranch when munchkin was a baby and learning to walk!
