Happy National Bagel Day!

I have always loved bagels. My parents bought them when I was growing up so I would take them in my school lunch. Later on my older sister introduced me to Einstein bagels and I was (and still am) hooked. This month my daughter started making protein bagels from scratch and they put Einstein bagels to shame! I’m going to have to beg her to bake some today lol

When’s the last time you ate a bagel?
Do you have a favorite flavor/brand?
Have you ever baked your own bagels?

When’s the last time you ate a bagel?
I had one last week, but I don't eat them often because I'm watching the carbs

Do you have a favorite flavor/brand?
Pumpernickel

Have you ever baked your own bagels?
No. I'd like to hear more about the protein bagels your daughter makes.

When’s the last time you ate a bagel? Last Saturday at Tim Horton's
Do you have a favorite flavor/brand? I like the Everything Bagel (I am addicted to that spice blend) but I also like multigrain
Have you ever baked your own bagels? Never and don't plan to but I bet they are even yummier when they are homemade.

I eat half a bagel pretty much every day for breakfast, including this morning! We have a deli here called Chompie's and I usually get mine from there -- whole wheat bagels. I've never baked my own -- I'm from NY and I'm picky about my bagels.

When’s the last time you ate a bagel? I don't even remember, maybe 50 years ago.
Do you have a favorite flavor/brand? I really only ever ate garlic bagels
Have you ever baked your own bagels? Nope

When I was in college, my dad was a construction worker. One of the projects he worked on was in a city that I would pass by on my way home for the weekend. Several times I would stop and pick him up at the end of his work day. We would stop at this place not far from his work site and he'd get a half dozen garlic bagels. We'd head home (with a stop to drop him off to get his car from where he met his ride in the morning). When we got home, Mom would be fixing spaghetti to go with the garlic bagels.

That is the only time I ate bagels.

I'm not sure I've ever eaten them. In France, we have doughnuts that are the same shape as bagels but fattier because they are fried. I'm not sure if bagels are fried.

Pumpernickel! I haven't had that in awhile! Yum!

Here's the recipe from my daughter. The protein comes from the greek yogurt.
1 cup bread flour 1/4 tsp salt 1 and 1/2 tsp baking powder, whisk dry ingredients then add 1 cup greek yogurt, knead until combined, cut into 4, poke holes, on a lined baking sheet, brush on egg wash and add seasoning then bake at 350 for 30 mins

The Everything spice blend is so good! We love it on bagels and avocado toast, just to name a few.

I had no idea homemade bagels were so much better homemade! Mind blown.

I would like to try NY bagels. ;) Whole wheat is always a good choice.

Garlic bagels are one of my go-to's at Einstein (as long as I don't need fresh breath any time soon lol). I bet they were delicious with spaghetti!

I was hoping there would be at least one person who hasn't eaten a bagel. Bagels are not fried, just baked (at least the ones I've eaten).

Thank you! I might try these

When’s the last time you ate a bagel? It's probably been a month or so ago

Do you have a favorite flavor/brand? All of them! I love bagels with some amazing cream cheese!
When I buy them at the store, my go-to is usually Thomas brand Blueberry or Cinnamon

Have you ever baked your own bagels?
I have never tried

I'll have to check out the Thomas brand. I grew up always eating blueberry but now I prefer savory, although I will go for cinnamon on random occasions. They're definitely the best with a whole ton of cream cheese, especially the flavored cream cheeses!

When’s the last time you ate a bagel?
Gosh, I can't remember....it certainly hasn't been while I've been gluten free that's for sure

Do you have a favorite flavor/brand?
Probably cinnamon raisin was my fave

Have you ever baked your own bagels?
No, though I've considered making GF bagels over the years but that's as far as I've got

When’s the last time you ate a bagel?
I'm not sure, sometime last year, but infrequently anymore

Do you have a favorite flavor/brand?
I love pumpernickel if it's an Einstein's (but haven't had that in years), Store bought - Dave's Killer Bread cinnamon remix

Have you ever baked your own bagels?
Can't say that I have given it much thought -- I'm an occasional baker

When’s the last time you ate a bagel? Last week. I bought some lox and had bagels with cream cheese and lox for a few breakfasts.
Do you have a favorite flavor/brand? Not really. I can usually tell by looking if they are going to be a glorified slice of bread or something special. There are some pretty terrible store brands that are just dough balls, lol.
Have you ever baked your own bagels? I think I may have tried years and years ago.

When’s the last time you ate a bagel? Bagels and I have a love-hate relationship. I loved them forever but one time when I worked for Royal Caribbean, we had some special ones brought in with all the toppings you can imagine, so I got my everything bagel and some cream cheese and proceeded to pull a veneer off my tooth. My dentist was able to reattach that one and it lasted until November 2025, but I don't eat them anymore.

Do you have a favorite flavor/brand? No particular brand, I just love the everything bagels or onion.

Have you ever baked your own bagels? Yes, I have...badly!

When’s the last time you ate a bagel? Last Sunday! I hosted a brunch and had a bunch of different flavors of bagels and cream cheese

Do you have a favorite flavor/brand? Nope, I'm not picky! I love them all but don't eat them very often

Have you ever baked your own bagels? No, it never occurred to me. But I want to try that recipe you shared!
