Now this could be specifically a Backblaze question but I did a whole pile of shifting stuff around yesterday on my hard drive and my back up time has gone from 2 days to 16. Is this normal as its still on my hard drive that it was originally backed up from, just in a new folder system as such?

Yep. Every time you make major changes it treats it like a new backup.

ok, that makes sense.....I hadn't even given much thought as to how my mass organising was going to affect my backup that was nearly done until I saw 16 days

If it were me, I would turn off the backup while doing the organizing. Everything is there on Backblaze so you won't lose it unless you don't backup for 30 days. It would only be a problem if you didn't get the organizing done in 30 days. If you stop the organizing, turn the backup back on and let it do its thing.

Another thought. Set the backup to only work while you are not on the computer like during the overnight hours. That's how mine was set when I had my internet connection problems that were caused by Backblaze.

@HavaDrPepper keeping my laptop on overnight isnt an option due to circumstances (If out of two laptops and an ipad, your laptop is the only one that didnt get stolen during a home invasion you tend to make sure its more secure than previously so I unplug and store my laptop away each night).

Your other suggestion of stopping the back up for the month could be a good idea though, its fairly speedy at the moment so it may not be necessary

Whatever works for you. I didn't realize you used a laptop and I agree overnight wouldn't work. I use a desktop so I have no problem keeping it powered up overnight. Good luck!
