I know, I know...for some of you that's a groan.

But who's already shopping/planning back to school?

We are at T-Minus 14 days and counting :yesss

We registered the oldest yesterday for 2nd grade. The littlest goes in on Tuesday complete registration and to find out who her Kindergarten teacher will be.

Tax Free shopping for back to school is Thursday and Friday here. I will be at Target at 8 pushing other people outta my way :giggle

I know, right? We start 3 weeks from yesterday and this Mother of the Year has finally gotten my kids their summer reading books, LOL. Hey, it's been busy ;).

And I have "thought" about supply shopping. But that's as far as that has gotten. I don't think mine will need new clothes (except one kid who will just not slow down), so a couple of "new" items and we are good to go on that until the weather changes.

I will say that I am looking at backpacks. I tend to get nice ones so they can keep them for a few years, but it's probably time for replacements.

I can't believe it!

I have to outfit two in all new clothes this year. We do uniforms here...I have a love/hate relationship with them lol

waaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!! :(

Okay, I'm done whining. I start in just under two weeks; kids come two weeks from tomorrow. I've already been in to start on my classroom and really SHOULD have gone in today but I didn't. (I stayed home and baked zucchini bread and peach crisp!)

Mom, my sister & my niece always head to the Michigan City outlet mall for school shopping and we're doing that on Friday.

I will take Luke to Target next week to grab a few fun school supplies. The school provides most everything he needs, though.

T-minus 19 days here! It's sort of bittersweet though. Part of me is excited and ready for them to go back, other part of me is sad that Summer is quickly winding down. I have both of their physicals scheduled for Friday trying to get all of their paper work turned in for PopWarner cheer and my son's high school football. Such a pain.

my kids go back after Labor day. not ready for homework & schedules. :(

Where I was born and raised we ALWAYS went back after Labor Day. One of the biggest adjustments for me, living in the south, is the end of July/beginning of August back to school.

i want to move south eventually ... but not until after the kids are out of HS ... i don't think i could adjust ... the US has some crazy differences in school schedules doesn't it???

didn't they just get out of school????? Where did the summer go and why are we talking back to school in JULY?????? Poor kids, seems like no vacation time at all..

speaking of school supplies, I mailed a box of school goodies to the DGC in Okinawa on Monday.

It is so strange to read about the beginning of school. Here in New Zealand we have just started the third of four terms. It is the middle of winter and we are in the full throws of winter sport etc.

We go back early because we're basically a balanced calendar school system. They've never come out and said that's what we are b/c it was voted down a few years ago. LOL The only time I *don't* like it is now- when it seems like summer should still be here. But I love it when we have a week off in the fall... two weeks at Christmas... a week and a half at Spring Break... and we're still out at the end of May. :)

Yuck Yuck Yuck!! We still have a few weeks left but I'm not at all ready for the new school year to start. I have a bunch of checks to write for dues and uniforms etc but I'm not buying school clothes until the weather changes. ( October? ) I'm a big fan of office/school supplies myself but not so much the way it's done here, takes the fun out of it. I think we'll go shop for planners and a few fun things ahead of time and we'll get the lists after the first day and fight the chaos.

This summer has flown by!

That is awesome!!

I have to report back on the 13th, but students don't start til the 21st, so my boys have a few weeks still. The summer seemed so long and inviting at the beginning, but now it is winding down all too quickly.

We pay a supply fee so no school supply shopping here. The boys both need new tennis shoes and we will probably try to get those next weekend when it is tax free weekend here.

I think I would like that kind of system.

I love that last year we added five minutes to our school day which added a crazy 2 weeks of total instruction time, so now our school doesn't start until a week after the public school here, and we didn't have to make up any snow days and our school ended about a week before everyone else did too.

That's awesome! We added 20 minutes to our day and still have to go the state-mandated 180 days. Crazy huh?

We have 20 minutes added to our days and still do the mandated number of days, too. However, it helped us out tremendously this year because we didn't have to add any more days to the calendar to make up the 17+ snow days we had.

We have four and a half weeks left, and NO- I'm NOT thinking about school AT ALL!

My dd has until after Labor Day too. So, not counting down and definitely not ready to get back into that schedule again.

Oh my lol! I saw this thread and am dreading the thought! Where we are, the kids are still in school until next week before they START summer break lol :) So no.. Not thinking about back to school yet :)
