Ok... maybe I'm a terrible mom. But I am so ready to get back on a post-holiday schedule! It seems that my "New Year" is starting so late because my tree is still up, my house is still a mess and the kids are still home Anyone else ready to get back in the groove of regular life? Or are you still enjoying this Christmas Vacay? Just wondering if I'm the only one... OR
Everything went back to normal yesterday when my son and daughter-in-love left after being here for two weeks! Also my daughter who lives nearby told me yesterday that she would see me Tuesday at Bible Study...so I think she was tired of hanging around too! Everything is nice and quiet now! I loved the holidays, but I'm ready for a bit of normal!
No school to worry about here but yes definitely ready to get back into routine.....well as much routine as I have at least
TJ has just finished taking the decorations down. They go back to school on Tuesday, but have rehearsals for the school show on Monday afternoon. I'd love another week of them home with me, but they are mostly past the age where having them under foot is exhausting. Note, @jenevang you are definitely NOT a terrible mum.
tree down and our funny end of vacation adventure has happened(I am not allowed to scrap) new underwear for all! lol, my hubby and I make it out like it is Christmas or a huge excitement. The boys play along, and it is hilarious. I whisper to my youngest in the underwear aisle, see those guys over there? They are so jealous of you getting new fresh chonies (spanglish) for the New Year. We say things like hey, it is time, try to keep the enthusiasm down. Lets! Get! NEW. Chooooownieeeeeeeeeeeeeees! and run to the car. and it means! yes yes yes MONDAY is school! my husband goes back to work and my house will really get cleaned, I will work out, I will have alone time. ahh
I do love Christmas. But I think I love getting back to 'normal' afterwards even more! You are not alone!!!
School started back up Thursday, actually, which is great because the kids are back on their schedules but it's also bad because it means I'm also back to work (this full-time teaching gig is really throwing a wrench in my MOC time lol). So my tree is still up because I was sick earlier this week and just didn't have the energy to take it down. It's coming down today, though, no matter what!
I was always happy for Christmas vacation to be over when we had two weeks off. The years we only had one week it just seemed too short!
I do crave routine after a little bit of time, but it always seems like Christmas break is rush, rush, rush with not enough down time. I guess I can look forward to a few snow days, maybe lol.
Yes. I have really enjoyed my 2 weeks off but am so ready for my normal off days with kids back in school. I've slowly been taking Christmas down a little each day & have cleaned pretty much everything. But man... monday cant come soon enough... lol
I'm a teacher, so I'm in the crying camp. I'm so not ready to go back to work! We traveled more over break than we usually do, so it made the time off feel shorter than usual. (But let's be real--I feel the same way when summer break ends, and by any objective standards summer should be "long enough" that I'm ready.)
I'm looking forward to having a quiet house to work in and scrap in, but at the same time I will miss my family. We've had a lovely break. Daniel goes back to school on Tuesday. Olivia and Jay went back to work last week, but it was a short week for both of them, so Monday will be back to their regular schedule. And Jay will be working overtime because one of his co-workers is out for two weeks. I'm not complaining about that either because it will give us extra $$ AND also will give me loads of quiet time. I am craving quiet and no activities!
Both for me - I don't want Christmas break to end yet, but am ready for a little "normal" too! I went in to work yesterday even though it wasn't required because I needed a little minute of quiet, and just to remember what day of the week it is! We will go back to work on Monday, and the kids will go back to school on Tuesday, so i will just soak up the rest of the weekend and then jump back in! (and yes, the tree is still up here too)
All of our decorations are still up. We were gone for 4 days over New Year's so I'm really behind. It's all good - we'll get everything down and put away when we can. Our GS goes back to school on the 8th, which is on a Wednesday. Seems like he's been out forever.
School starts Monday. I've already been working. Christmas lights, tree, books, decorations... all put away already. I'm VERY ready!
I have been waiting for "all that extra time" to show up since I no longer have to cart my daughter here and there (she is at college now). So far it has not happened... She is home until Jan 12 when spring semester starts. The hubby starts a new job on Monday, after being home since May -- maybe that will help me discover my "extra time". And almost none of the Christmas decorations are put away. So far I collected a few things and put them on the dinning room table - that is all. We were out of town for a week after Christmas.
Yes! I am just now crawling out from the tinsel and wrapping paper. Tree is still up ... will tackle all that next weekend. I think the mid week New Years Day was rough! Thursday Jan 2 was the hardest day ever getting out of bed! Definitely looking forward to normalcy and schedules this coming week!
I had to go back to work on Thursday, so it won't be as painful for me tomorrow morning, but I fear my boys are going to be in the crying camp when they have to wake up early again. At least they both had swimming over the break, so they had to do something each day, so I think that will actually help them not be so shell-shocked to start back to school tomorrow. I am definitely ready for some routine thought. I spent my whole time off painting all 39 cabinets and drawers in my kitchen and then this weekend I painted the walls and today the window trim. I can't WAIT to NOT be painting anymore!
