anyone listen to books? i've been contemplating downloading some... haven't ever really listened to books before.

Yes, I do!! I had never listened to them before but when I bought my ipod it came with a free trial to Audible.co.uk so I thought I'd try one out. Now I am addicted!! I listen to them when I work and when I walk my dog :)

Yep, I love having something playing while I'm arting, or folding laundry, or even in the bath lol I loved the Hunger Games, and The Help especially

Yes! I listen to them quite often while I'm at work. I love that my library has a bunch for free that you can download electronically now too. Sometimes I'll get the ebook and the audiobook so I can listen while I'm at work and then read when I'm at home. :)

I can't pay attention. All of a sudden, the dude is like "chapter 5..." and I'm like "WHOA WAIT WHAT HAPPENED TO 3 AND 4?!"

I've only listened to a few, like when I painted my basement earlier this summer I had to have something to entertain me so I listened to the help. I got a membership to audible which I think is a good deal if you listen to a lot of books ( I just ended up canceling mine after that though).

I like listening to books and radio plays (which are more fun to listen to than the books) but I'm not ear-oriented, and usually either I have pay full attention to it, or put it in the background and not pay attention to it and get like Angie, and be baffled because I've missed earlier chapters. So, I only listen to stuff when I'm in bed and not preoccupied. But then I fall asleep and miss the story/show! Sorry, Digishow!

I love audiobooks. I drive an hour (or more) to and from work and I only wish I would have discovered them sooner! I have listened to the Hunger Games trilogy, just about everything by John Green, the Outlander series, and lots of classics I've never gotten around to reading. I also really love listening to Neil Gaiman, so I've listened to a bunch of his books. I also just listened to Gone, Girl and it was great to hear that from the different character's points of view.

Because I do spend so much time in the car, I've been using my Audible credits to buy really long books - like 20 hours or more - so I get more out of it!

One of my favorites was also the Night Circus, narrated by Jim Dale, who did the Harry Potter audiobooks. I wish those were on Audible!

Since I had the baby, audiobooks are really the only books for me. But I've discovered that only certain books work for me as audio books. I've been listening to Harry Potter, and I love those. Non-fiction is pretty good for me too. (Mostly because if you zone out for a bit, it doesn't usually matter.)

I can't wait til I get to sit down and read a book with pages again, lol.

I used to listen to them at work, but now my attention span is just not long enough or something. I get halfway through the book and wonder what the first part was about..lol! I know I could only listen to certain readers. The female readers with lighter voices, I could never listen to and then there was one, can't remember his name, but the guy had the most monotone voice ever- just put me to sleep.

I listened to both of those on my ipod, and by the time there were (was?) 6 hours left on The Help, I sat my children in front of the TV with a whole bunch of snacks and told them not to talk to mommy unless someone was bleeding, lol. I really enjoy listening to audio books when I'm alone in the car, when I'm doing mundane tasks like housework or when I'm spending 8 hours traveling home from Jakarta.

I think I'm going to give some a try based off your responses. Thanks!! I have just enough time by myself on occasion, I think I could fit them in.

So, Audilble is one place to get them? Where else? Amazon? iTunes? I use the library for all my Kindle books, so I will check that out, too.

Yes, definitely check your library...my local library is quite small and they still have many audiobooks available :tu

Our library is awesome. I get most of my audiobooks online through our library. But they also have a huge collection of Audiobooks on CDs and we have these things called Playaways, which are little MP3 players preloaded with an audio book. So definitely check out your Public Library!

But if you strike out there, Audible is probably you're next best bet.
