Are you ready for Easter? I'm not! Yikes! How can it almost be Easter already?

I just bought some candy and egg dye yesterday but haven't bought the ham or any food for Easter dinner yet. Heck, I haven't even bought the eggs or gotten the girls' anything for their baskets. I guess that means I need to add some shopping to my ever growing to-do list for today.

We'll do the egg decorating and Easter bunny stuff on Saturday and save Sunday for the more spiritual things. I like to focus Sunday on Christ's resurrection and remember He's the reason for Easter. We'll go to church, then after watch some Easter videos on Mormon.org and enjoy Easter dinner. We're having ham, potato salad, rolls and strawberry shortcake for Easter this year. I hope I remember to take pix. I always get too busy cooking that I forget to snap a few pix before we all dig in.

How about you? Are you ready for Easter and what things do you do for it? Color eggs, baskets, dinner, church, etc.

DH & I are driving in to Chicago tomorrow a.m. to visit with my brother for Easter. I hard-boiled my eggs yesterday, had to buy fresh horseradish root for a soup I make (recipe handed down to me from my mother, who got it from her mother) that is a Polish tradition. I'll make the soup at my brother's, it is quick and easy, only takes about 1/2 hour. We do take a basket of food over to the church to get it blessed, another tradition. We'll eat out on Saturday afternoon, soup is for Saturday evening, and we are eating out again for Easter lunch. My brother is not a cook.

I did prepare a couple of goodie bags filled with candy for my mother-in-law (she received hers yesterday) and my brother. He'll get his on Saturday.

For those who celebrate, Happy Easter!

Nothing much happening here for Easter but we are having dinner out tomorrow night with Dick's daughter. That way we can celebrate Easter and his birthday. He's an Earth Day baby!

We still need to dye eggs. I'll hard-boil them today and try to have them dyed tonight so they have time to dry.

I'm in charge of potato salad and a dessert. I still have to go shopping for those things. I got a call from my credit union yesterday that my bank card was compromised and they cancelled it so that'll make for an interesting shopping trip. I'll have to send the hubby with his card (or steal his...lol). So frustrating (but so thankful they caught it before any charges posted)!!

I have all of the basket items...just need to throw those together Saturday night.

We are packing up the car now ... I am waiting for the kids to shower and get their stuff together. Everyone is meeting at my parents home - and besides Easter, we will be celebrating 3 birthdays this weekend too. Yesterday I shopped for gifts, food, also the candy and plastic eggs to hide. I don't think we will be dyeing eggs - but the kids all want chocolate and candy so their will be plenty of that.

Happy Easter or Passover to those that celebrate! :beat

We are heading to church first thing in the morning then having a bbq with who is available of our children. A couple of them do work so it will not be a full house. Our youngest is a senior in hs so I need to pick up a chocolate bunny for him still.

@jenn mccabe
Who's birthday? My hubby's is Wed 18 then my two red heads share a birthday for the 23rd.
It is Birthday season for us we also have 3 in May, 4th 18th and the 31st

We're having a casual afternoon hanging out with family and having dinner together. I'll be making mashed potatoes, sauteed beans/almonds/parmesan, ham, applesauce, spinach salad and cake for the others and a keto-friendly chocolate pudding for me. I got jelly beans, chocolate bunnies and hershey's kisses for them to snack on throughout the afternoon.

I'm as ready as I'll ever be lol. This has been one heck of a week, and I haven't been home much before bed time all week. It's almost 9pm now, and I just sat down. I went out last night and got basket stuff, so tomorrow I'll figure out food and stuff. I'm still trying to figure out what my older children are doing. I will probably just have everything here and ready for when they decide to come along. We aren't dying eggs. The youngest didn't want to and I didn't push it :giggle

I AM NOT! Hubby was sick today so I had to stay home. When he is like he is today I get nervous leaving him alone. So nothing is donE!

We are ready. I ordered the items I need from Walmart and picked them up yesterday evening - entire trip was 20 minutes and I never left my car! WooT!

Hubby went out today and got the candy that I forgot to put in the order. Yes. I'm SO organized. LOL

I put the bags together and they are hidden in the closet for Sunday morning.

Tomorrow, Saturday, I'm going to my Mama's for lunch at 1 pm to celebrate my Grandma Hicks' 92nd birthday. We're having a fish fry (she loves fish) and I'm in charge of bringing the baked beans. I'm not with my Mama on Easter this year (it's Jay's family's turn for us to be with them) so we might end up doing some Easter stuff tomorrow afternoon after lunch as well.

Sunday we will go to the 9:30 or 11 am service (haven't decided yet) and then we'll go to my mom-in-law's for lunch at 1 pm. There will be egg hunting because my great niece is still wee small and she'll want to do that! I'm taking corn on the cob for that meal, and we'll be bringing ice as well.

We went to an egg hunt at the library yesterday and one at a local church this morning. Our church is so big that it doesn't host events like that. We are going to church tonight because our family dinner is at noon tomorrow so we won't be able to go to our regular service.

I have most of the kids' candy & empty plastic eggs for what the Easter Bunny will bring them tomorrow morning. We'll go to my parents' house for lunch & I'm sure my mom has Easter baskets for them, too, and hides one particular kind of Easter candy (which happens to be my favorite!) around her living room for them to find while we finish making lunch.

Lunch is ham, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, praise salad (Jello + stuff), broccoli-cheese casserole (what I'm bringing), shrimp salad or strawberry fluff (not sure which she is bringing!), homemade baked beans, deviled eggs, rolls, & malted milkball cake with my parents, sister, nephew, DH + me + kiddos, my aunt, my grandmother, and my grandfather.

It's a crazy weekend! Luckily DH and my daughter had Good Friday off work/school so we've been able to stretch out the crazy into three days instead of two. :)

I told my mom and sister on the phone earlier that it was so weird everyone at the grocery store was telling us to have a happy Easter. I was like, "how do they know I celebrate Easter? They don't know me." lol!!

We are not doing anything special. I am not even falling into the trap of dying eggs or buying/making baskets. Honestly...I celebrated Easter at home in Alabama because I was with my family where my mom and sister orchestrated everything. I just went with it... so no plans here.

We still need to dye eggs. I'll hard-boil them today and try to have them dyed tonight so they have time to dry.

Scary about the bank card. Glad they caught it before they drained your bank account.

unfortunately, we aren't in condition right now for any holiday :(
wont go into it because I am now feeling better so but we haven't done anything in the past 3 months apart from making sure we ate at least once a day!
Don;t even want to read all the food posts because I know I will be going to my kitchen again :giggle

i was. lol. no dyeing here this is the first year in 15 we haven't dyed. :(
kids enjoyed the trail of candy to their baskets.

Happy Easter! DH and I are just going out to eat today. My son just moved into a new apartment so he's busy with that. My daughter & son-in-law are busy working on their kitchen renovation so they're busy with that. So we'll just take it easy and avoid any holiday stress.

Nothing to prepare for this year. I'm in Charleston, SC to attend my BFF's son's wedding. Everything went well and we all had a great time, but sadly we have to drive home tomorrow.

I feel kind of lame. We don't do Easter baskets or egg dyeing...I don't even buy my kids new clothes. This isn't because I have anything against those things...I just don't do them.

I did read Easter books to my kids and have an Easter Egg hunt, and we went to church (which is a normal thing for us). My oldest and I played a piano duet during service, which we've been practicing for 8 weeks (so I guess that was my preparing!). My 12 year old wanted us to match and look "nice" so she picked out all of our outfits. Here's a pic. Not too shabby for not shopping for all of us.

Well, the biggest preparation that I do for Easter is LOTS of practicing with the church choir, so in that regard I was prepared... for everything else. I wasn't so much! lol! I did buy some Easter candy, but I didn't even put that in the eggs until AFTER 3 services at church yesterday. My boys are 11 and almost 13, so they really are too old for the egg hunt, but they still love it and so do I, so we still did that in the afternoon.

As for the meal, I'm so lucky that my MIL does EVERYTHING for Easter lunch. She knows I spend from 6:00 am until noon at church on Easter and I'm just too tired to do a meal, so she always has us over and cooks everything and spoils us rotten. :)
