Are you a One Kit Wonder or do you mix it up?

I used to be a one kit per page kinda person but I've been going nutty really exploring and spreading my wings a bit... it seems I've crossed over to the dark side...

For those who mix it up, do you break up your kits a little bit more? I used to put everything associated with the kits in one folder, but now I separate out Word Art, Journal Cards, etc. -- especially since I'm getting more eclectic with the pages. I still sort by store however... easier for crediting and all that due to gallery restrictions.

I definitely mix it up, but I'm not as organized as you are by splitting my kits into various categories. Sounds like a great idea though.

I don't have them into categories - Its more that if its a kit with a separate word art pack I keep it separate from the kit sort of thing.

I scrap by kit but I might deviate from the kit to get extra things, I know that I have some kits that I can mix and match and, of course, the byoc helps on that score too.

The only organisation I have is to keep kits in designer folders and labelled with the store - this works best for me as I am pretty well motivated by challenges and this helps me meet the challenge/gallery criteria for the store better. I also rename the byoc items to include byocmmyy in the folder name too.

I have some bits and pieces in a separate folder, mostly things like stitches, masks, brushes etc that are useful across the board.

I have almost always been a one kit scrapper, but have started to see the benefits of deviating from that, for art journaling specifically. I still organize my kits in store> designer> kit folder, but have been trying to figure out how I could use the collaboration type feel of BYOC. I don't tag files, or rename anything. .... yet. Lol. I have been trying to add my previews to Evernote, because I love how the Evernote search works. But that will take me literally forever if I don't just sit down and do it. So I haven't yet. :/

I usually mix them up, but lately I have been trying to make the main "theme" from the same kit, or at least from the same designer, after that it is a " free for all ".

I do both. If I don't have a lot of time or am crafting for a product release I use one, but there's something to be said for variety because it can be awfully hard for one kit to have everything you might want in order to tell your story.

I mix, and I use Anna Forrest's Credit Tracker script, so each kit is in its own folder so the script will work. When I'm searching for what I want, it doesn't matter where the file actually is. Searching and tagging doesn't care about location.

Lorry, do you know of anything similar to this that works in Linux operating system?

No, sorry. I like Linux for a lot of things, but I can't stand GIMP. I'll ask around and see if any of my friends can help.

I organize with ACDSee so I can find any element or paper by any characteristic I have a tag for. I tag by designer, color, store, category, etc. I usually use one kit at a time, though, since I love how designer's coordinate them and I like to keep the credits simple to do. Art Journaling is the one place I usually deviate from this and use things from multiple designers. For challenges, I usually stay with one designer but use multiple kits from her.

I love mixing it up, even if it is all from one designer but different kits.

I used to tag everything with ACDSEE. I tagged by color, designer, store and type of element. Then I upgraded ACDSEE and my database was so big that I was not able to upload it so I lost all my work. :(

Dalis, that the reason I have not updated during the last three updates. I'm not touching my system. It works for me and I love it so much. Today I was making a layout for Amy Wolff and I wanted to use only her supplies. The kit I was using didn't come with any stitches or staples, but I was able to search specifically for her staples and stitches. So fast, so effective. Found what I needed in seconds. Oh, I love ACDSee!!

I one kit for CT work, but mix it up for personal pages. I organize my kits by store, and then designer. I never separate them out.

I'm an ACDSee girl as well and love it. I've slowed down on my tagging as my CT stuff has increased. Not enough time some days to do extensive tagging.

Lorry, I am so dependent on that Anna Forrest credit tracker but it doesn't work in the latest version of PS CC. If you hear of anything like it that does, I would LOVE to hear about it.

My upgrade in operating system doesn't let me install the old version of ACDSEE, so I'm screwed! I do miss it.

I am using the latest version of PS CC and Credit Tracker works fine for me still. I actually don't think I had to do anything at all after the latest update, but after some previous updates I did have to uninstall and reinstall the script to get it to work again.

I'm definitely a mix-and-matcher here. I still store a kit all in one folder. I didn't like having to go into one folder for papers, another for elements, etc., so I just throw it all in one (except if there's an alpha with individual letters). Then I have a folder for each store and all the kit folders go in there. I also keep all BYOC stuff together in one folder. So I have a folder called "2015-05 May BYOC" and then all the pieces have their own folder within there. I find it super handy for mixing and matching to have each BYOC all together.

I'm a one kit person unless it's BYOC or MPM then I mix it up. Sometimes if a kit doesn't have something I need then I may wander and look for it elsewhere.
