April M3 Challenge-Storm/Calm

@Lindzee In the U.S. with my primary care doctor, I had a "western blot" for Lyme. Conventional labs came back negative. When I had to get copies of my labwork for my Lyme-literate doctor, I found out I had one positive band, one band that wasn't positive, wasn't negative, so they deemed me not having Lyme. My Fond du Lac doctor said that it was probably because of the prednisone I was on that caused the false negative. Plus he said that it is just an indicator for how the antibodies in your body are fighting Lyme. He said that some people would never test positive. My RA dx was caused because genetically I have the gene. My mom had it, but she never complained about her fingers, although they were quite misshapen. We live in woods and parts of our property are prairie (think tall grasses). So yes, we are sitting ducks for the Lyme tick. Over this past weekend I had to remove two ticks off of DH, although they were normal, large ticks, not the little poppy seed sized deer tick. Fun and games (not). Take care!

@mcurtt Sounds then like you have the right diagnosis finally. This is excellent. The best outcome for any of us is a total cure. Take care on where you live.

My knuckles are very mis-shapen, mostly in my left hand, but this is caused by osteo-arthritis, and (sadly) age, but not RA. RA makes it worse since there is no support when the immune system is attacking the joints, so I am considered poly-arthritic for now. Hoping to do better on that in the future.. my mobility is increasing with the right treatment.

Although I grew up in Pennsylvania - where there was not a serious consideration for deer tics at that time, and now live in Canada, we are not in too much danger of deer tics. The likely hood of my issues being Lyme is slim to none, but I am glad you finally have a diagnosis, and wish you the best with treatment to cure.

We have a friend who contracted Lyme disease at a soccer tournament a few years back in Albany New York and has made a full recovery since.

@Lindzee While I have residual issues, they are very, very minor and I can control it with herbs and diet. But it was a good 5 years of treatment to get to this point. Yes, I feel like I am blessed to come out of this alive. :-)

On that note, I wish you a great Monday. :-)
