Just wondering if any of you are involved in Brownies? (Brownie Scouts) I have a group of 18 7-8 year old girls that I lead here in Ottawa. We would love to set up a post card exchange with a group from somewhere else.

I'd also love to buy/trade for some US Girl Scout Cookies. We're currently selling our version of "mint thins." Ours have a chocolate cookie base with a layer of peppermint patty (like a Pep or an After Eight) and are covered in chocolate. In the spring we sell chocolate and vanilla sandwich cookies.

PM me!

Most GS sales here in the US are in January or February. There are 4 bakers for the US, so different areas have different types. I think we all have the Thin Mints. It is also the 100th year anniversary of the Girl Scout cookie this year, so there will be a special birthday cookie.

p.s. Can't help you on the Brownie quest. We are a Cadette and up troop.

If I was still involved in Brownies as a leader I'd help but its been more than 10 years now.

We are the same ... I have High School girls ... if you are interested in doing an exchange with with older girls - might be a cute thing for the younger ones to hear about what's it is like for the Girl Scouts that are in High School. We have just 6 girls and they want to earn their Gold Awards for college applications. 4 of the 6 did their Silver already. Do you have the Silver and Gold Awards in Canada? Or something similar? (BTW: I'm not the leader but can ask our leader ... she is very open to these kinds of things.)

And yes, our cookies sales start in Feb - with delivery in April.

Cadettes are middle school (grades 6-8). We have a sister troop of homeschool girls; let me ask them.

That sounds like a great plan. I was a leader/assistant leader for 12 years for my oldest daughter's troop. She graduated in 2003, so I'm no help to you. I hope you find a troop.

Thanks @BevG ! That would be great! Also, Bev if you have a sixth grader Cadette who would like a Canadian pen pal, my daughter Naomi would love one. She likes Dr. Who, marine biology and hates math and gym class.

@jenn mccabe I had to look it up, but apparently there is a Chief Commissioner's award that comes in bronze, silver and gold that can be earned by "Rangers". And, yes my little girls would love to hear about what your "big girls" are doing. They go crazy for anything involving the older girls.

OK, I think they meet in just a few weeks for the first time this year .... (mid Oct) so I'll bring it up ... you can still search for a young Brownie troop here in the US but let's plan to do something little btwn the younger and older girls. I think it would be really nice for all involved. I'll talk to the leader.

Also if you don't find a young Brownie troop ... I can ask our leader to forward to the local council to find a willing Brownie Troop around here (in NY) ... I bet someone would jump on the idea to do a postcard exchange with you. Just let me know if interested ...
and maybe send me some basic info in which I can pass on ...
your full name
how many girls in troop
your contact email
and a little write up about what you are looking to do. OK?

I will ask them. I also asked our sister troop of homeshcoolers if their Brownies would like to do this. I will let you know what I hear back.

My mom got kicked out of brownies, so I never got to participate.

My mother in law works with the girl scout council, but not am individual troop. I can see if she could help you out if you'd like?

enquiring minds want to know what she did so bad to warrant that?

She told a dirty joke or two. :giggle She hung around her uncles, and supposedly didn't know they were dirty jokes, but I have my doubts.... :nope

Bart loves to eat brownies. The chocolate kind, of course!
