Another Seizure :-(

I hope that your family is able to get some answers soon that will reassure. I think where our children are concerned that not knowing is particularly hard. Lifting prayers for Harper to be seizure free as you wait for the specialist. Sending big hugs your way!

All of your wonderful thoughts, prayers and replies have brought tears to my eyes - TLP has so many kind and caring members!!

Since it was just 2 weeks ago she had the 1st one, I too am hoping it is related to the virus / fever, but they were referred to a neurologist today so at least they can get some answers - or hopefully rule out anything serious.

Thanks again for the kind words! They mean the world to me!!

Jill, you are such a caring grandma, that sweet little girl is lucky to have you looking out for her.
You are all in my thoughts :heartslub

you are all in my thoughts - i can only imagine how scary this is. ((hugs)) to all, especially little harper!

I hope the neurologist is able to ease your concerns. Positive thoughts for Harper and your family.

They have an appointment with a pediatrician tomorrow AM - (they had only had a general doctor before this). They actually had an appointment with a neurologist tomorrow, but Amanda did some investigating and found he had a lot of bad "reviews", so they're waiting to get in to a different provider (in a different city) in April.
The general doctor they saw yesterday did not think the 2 seizures were related - because she hadn't been sick in between them. I'm (obviously) hoping he's wrong.
I stayed with her for awhile today - and she was fine at first, but started getting a little moody (she's 16 months and hitting the "terrible twos" a little early - she can throw a good tantrum! LOL!) - then she started to get warm. I gave her Ibuprofen and within 20 minutes or so she was fine.
I will keep you all posted - and thanks again for your concern!!

Poor little girl. I hope this gets sorted out quickly. Not knowing is often the worst part.

Poor little girl! And so awful for all the grown ups who love her - so hard when you don't know what is wrong - I hope it is only a virus and she is all well again soon xx

Our son just called to tell us that the pediatrician visit went well and she didn't see a need to go to a neurologist - The ped doc believes both seizures were Febrile and even though she didn't "feel" warm before / after the 2nd seizure, her internal temp probably spiked. She recommended not over-dressing her (hmmm - I'm guilty of always thinking she's cold and bundling her up!). She checked her over and said everything seems just fine. She did say this may happen for years until she grows out of it.

What a huge relief! I feel like a rag doll right now after wearing my ears between my shoulders because I've been so uptight.

Thank you for the prayers and thoughts - I know they've made a big difference!! :heartslubhttps://the-lilypad.com//www.pinterest.com/pin/create/extension/

Hugs and prayers for you and the little one. Such good news. It is scary for sure. Even when you know that, it is always like waiting for it to happen again. It sounds like what we went through with Kennedy, and he does seem to have grown out of it, so hopefully that will be the case for you guys!!!

oh what a relief...... yes to the overdressing them...... I remember Sarita never wanted to wear clothes when she was little, as little clothes as possible, she would start taking one piece at the time until she was in nappies....and I put it down to the fact that we sued to spend 5 month in South America and our place here in London was well heated....but I have seen a lot of kids being the same....so I guess their perception of temperature should be different....
anyway, glad to hear all is well...
Hugggzzz

Oh phew! This makes me so happy that the doctor agrees it's nothing major! What a huge relief!

May I ask how long it went on? And how old he is now?

She spiked another fever last night and rather than wait for something to happen Amanda (our DIL) took Harper directly to the hospital for a blood draw (Amanda's mom is a registered nurse). The blood work came back okay (halleluiah!) but she has an ear infection - that she didn't have Wednesday - it's crazy, but we went through that with our son for years until we had tubes put in his ear.
So I think they are on the right track for sure now!!
We were supposed to watch her tomorrow but I have a vicious cold - booo!!
Ready to put this chapter behind us, for sure!
