My son (he's 24) called the police last night at 1 am because he heard a bunch of kids having a party in the house next door, and it's a vacation rental home and we knew there wasn't supposed to be anyone there. He heard some saying they could go to jail for breaking in, etc....

So the police come (5 cars) racing up our street, lights flashing, so of course all the kids see it and take off out the back and escape. It goes up into another neighboorhood that is very wooded with no street lights.

My son is out there waiting for them...he's the one that called them....and they frisk him! wth?

That is ridiculous! Sounds very much like something that would happen here. :/

Well, he's thinking the whole thing is pretty cool...and I guess for boys these days, they're used to it. Totally sad. I know I wouldn't have been frisked if I'd been out there and had been the one to call.

That is crazy! I'm glad he is okay about it even though it is a shame that he should be. Geez. Good thing they didn't rough him up! That is an awful thing for you. :(

I guess the police said it was for their protection..he said it was more of a quick pat down, to make sure he didn't have a gun.

Sad really that they would have to do that.

So much for doing your civic duty though and trying to protect the neighborhood. I told him to wake me up if that ever happens again and let me call 911 and deal with the police. Somehow when you're a 50 year old woman, they treat you a little differently than a 24 year old male.

Sounds like quite the adventure! I'm glad he's taking it in stride. Hope the kids didn't do too much damage and will stay away from now on!

That's totally wrong... you shouldn't frisk the person who filed the complaint... they are the ones asking for help. So stupid, but sadly, I've noticed more and more that police continue to assume the worst of people. Case in point, I had a cop behind me and a drink tipped over in my floorboard so instead of swerving trying to reach it, I pulled over and picked it up and cleaned the mess. The cop waited for me and pulled me over for "acting suspicious". It's completely out of hand if you ask me.

That's crazy Kat. I know that the police have a tough job and have to watch out for all sorts of things...but some things are just wacko.

i think it's because in between all the actual craziness that NEEDS to be taken care of, some of them just get bored waiting for something to happen, so they make stuffs up.

Kat, you ARE pretty suspicious! :rofl
