My seasonal allergies are driving me mad this year with all the weather going from HOT to cold to hot again! OMG! my throats been on fire and nose runny and eyes....

Do you have allergies?

Are you allergic to anything ? (me its penicillan and rootbeer)

How do you handle it?

I have contact allergies to nylon, and also to a chemical commonly found in gels, creams, liquid soaps and lotions. I manage them with avoidance. I carry my own soap in my bag etc. Food allergies are also managed with avoidance.
I struggle wit a lot of artificial scents in air fresheners, deodorants and perfumes etc. Those are a problem as I can't avoid what other people around me have sprayed on themselves. Sometimes I just have to leave a room or cross over the other side of the street which is can be awkward.
I have to carry anti histamines as I'm allergic to insect bites, and have to take something straight away if I think I might possibly have been bitten.

I have completely unpredicatable seasonal allergies -- sometimes they happen, sometimes they don't. This fall has been pretty bad for some reason.

I AGREE this fall has been the worst of them yet. I get rid of these stupid allergies and they come back with full force

I found out several years ago using one of those home testing kits that I am highly allergic to walnut trees (not the nuts) and ragweed. Knowing that explained so much about me in all the years I've lived in this house. There are 5 large walnut trees within 100 yards of my house! They bloom in late May/early June and as a child my parents and I always thought it was just "hay fever" and I would also get it in late August/September which is peak ragweed season around here. Fully explained why I always had sinus infections in the spring and fall every year.

My mom was allergy tested in the 80's and one of her allergies was house dust. in the testing I did, my worst allergy... house dust! So I can never get away from my allergies. I only take meds during peak seasons for the trees and ragweed because the antihistamine doesn't help my chronic dry eye. I have a cleaning lady that does the heavy duty cleaning and if I have to do something in between her days, I have to wear gloves so that I won't rub my eyes. I have to take lots of breaks as well because my eyes start to itch when I dust things. If it is too much, I will take a Claritin.

I take Claritin daily ... seasonal allergies, plus dust and mold ... autumn is the worst for me due falling, moldering leaves. Like Angela I have issues with scents ... in perfumes, detergents, etc.

My seasonal allergies are horrible some years but this year not so much. Last fall I was a mess and then in the Spring it was mild. This fall I have had no issues. I'm thankful! I'm allergic to dust, mold, many different weeds, walnuts, and cows...not their milk though. Morphine gave me hives at the IV site last time I had it and lidocaine also gives me bad hives. Seasonal allergies have turned into bronchitis because of my asthma and a few times I've gotten pneumonia because of allergies and asthma. Thankful for the pneumonia shot!

My poor 2 year old granddaughter has awful seasonal allergies. We went to the doctor today and I can give her Zyrtec finally. She pushes through it but sometimes she looks so bad with puffy red eyes that water all the time. I feel so bad for her.

Do you have allergies?
Not necessarily allergies per say but I do react to some things.

Are you allergic to anything ?
Mosquito bites - doesn't matter where or when but there's a 99% chance I will react and have welts appear. I often joke it's a toss up whether I drown myself in insect repellent or aloe vera/anti itch solution.

Foods - I'm intolerant to lactose, gluten, garlic, dates, leeks, cashews.

How do you handle it?
Mosquito bites - depending on whether it's before the bite or after depends on whether I use insect repellent or anti itch stuff. Otherwise I just try not to scratch the welts - easier said than done!

As far as food intolerances - the only ones I truly eliminate are gluten, garlic, dates, leeks, cashews. The rest I figure if it's low enough in an ingredient list I'm usually fine and with lactose I can usually tolerate more depending on the specific food and how it's being consumed.

I’m so sorry you’re allergic to penicillin Kari. My older sister is too so it’s very hard for her to get antibiotics that work.

Do you have allergies?
Yes but not too bad

Are you allergic to anything?
Some adhesive tapes give me a very bad rash (I had a huge square rash from my first epidural).

How do you handle it?
I take a daily allergy pill for my seasonal allergies. When I get an allergy rash I try rash creams but they never help as much as I want them to.

Do you have allergies?
Yes, I have seasonal allergies. This year even autumn doesn't give any relief.
Are you allergic to anything?
Yes, I'm allergic to cats, some dogs, dust, some perfumes, laundry detergent and hazelnuts
How do you handle it?
I take an allergy pill (cetirizine) and nasal spray for my seasonal and all my other allergies. When I get a rash, I use Sudocrem and hypoallergenic detergent and fabric softener for all my laundry.

This makes me realize I'm lucky I don't have allergies at all. Or food intolerances as well. My kids don't either - though they may claim they are allergic to not eat something! :P

I have adult onset allergies and have to take Zyrtec year-round. I'm allergic to dust mites, grasses, pollens, etc ... Just this week I had a had a layer of pollen on my vehicle! My car is black, so it was pretty noticeable. It's very strange to see at this time of the year (at least where I live, that is).

Like Monica, I'm also allergic to some adhesives. Bandaid brand bandages are the only ones that work for me. Anything else will turn into a big welt that only goes aways several days after I've scrubbed every last remnant away. My youngest also has this issue, so he has to carry Bandaids to school (he is also allergic to many sunscreens, so he carries that too).
