So after sitting on my butt for the past 3 months, I've decided that my back/leg are healed up enough that now I'm just making excuses for not getting healthy again. So I'm going to be doing a 30 day challenge starting on October 1st. Anyone want to join me?

The challenge can be whatever you want it to be - if you already work out regularly, maybe you want to increase the length of your workouts or throw in some other types of workouts.

For me, I'm challenging myself to work out at least 20 minutes per day, every day for 30 days. On the days that I can work out at home, I'm going to do the 30 day shred dvd. On days that I can't, I'm going to walk. Maybe leave the house 20 minutes before I have to pick the kids up from school and walk around the neighborhood before I go grab them. NO EXCUSES!

So now that I've posted this in public, I HAVE to do it. No more excuses!!! :yesss Who's with me?

this sounds like EXACTLY what i need! i'm in! i'll challenge myself to do the 30 day wii fit challenge that they have on their. :tu

YES - let's do it!! Maybe we can have an Exercise Pad or Fit Pad or something for daily check-ins? or weekly? I need this. LOL

I'm in!!
I haven't done a workout since my hubby broke his appendix...something about being in the hospital for 3 days kinda killed my exercise mojo.

That would be great Laura! I was working out almost every day before my back went out in June and for the most part I haven't worked out since. And I'm not even going to mention my bad eating habits. LOL

I'm in! My schedule got totally out of whack when the kids were off school and now that they are back, well, it's still not happening! :giggle I need some motivation!

i'm in! i wanna do 2 diff things 1 is my 15 min ttapp video which really helps w/ flexibility and my bad. And then maybe I'll do zumba everyday... loves me some zumba!

I'm in!!! I am sooooo out of shape!!! I need this!! I will find something that looks fun on netflix!

Yes! I started running a few months ago, then all of the gallbladder sickness and the surgery. I was just talking to a friend last week who wants to get back into running and we planned to run 3 days a week starting the 1st. :) So, yep! I'm in!!

I usually walk an hour every morning, but I missed three days last week. I need to challenge myself to go even if my walking partner can't make it. I threw my back out about 6 weeks ago, and I'm still in pain from that. I have an appointment with a massage therapist in the morning and I want to see if that won't help. I'm tired of living on vicodin. Until that pain is gone, I can't do any more than I already am. I would LOVE to start on some weight training. As soon as my dh comes back from Alaska (one or two weeks now), I'm going to have him help me get the garage cleaned and then I can start using my weight machine out there. I'm really excited to start firming and toning these old muscles!

I'm IN too!!

I am the LEAST active person since I started designing (me at home, in my pj's till about 2pm).
So... I just started working out at a gym.
I told myself I'd like to FOR SURE, go at least 2 days a week.
So far so good!!
Which is alot for me.

i'm in too!! i want to do the 30 day shred (and actually DO all thirty days) and also do 30 min of walking/swimming/C25K each day ... !

I'm in! Today was my 30th day of P90x - so I am shocked I made it this far now, and definitely am challenged to do the next 30 and then 30 more!

Wow Amanda - P90x - good for you!!! Can't wait to see the "after" photos!

I'm in. I need a kick in the behind which keeps getting bigger and bigger. I like that 20 mins a day - nice, simple, hopefully easy to work into a busy day.

Rebecca - what is the 30-day Wii Fit challenge? And what do you need to get in order to do it?

I am SO in! I've tried numerous times to do the 30 day shred... and actually do it every day. I love that work out, but I always miss a day here and there and then it turns into missing a week and then I'm not doing it anymore. I know it would be great for me to do every day and I have no excuses now that I'm home at 3:00 with the kiddos. Besides, we are starting to plan our 10 year anniversary trip in the spring and it'll require me in a bathing suit... I wanna get back into my bikini!

I'm in! I've been working out every day and I'd love to keep the momentum going.

Heather, wii has a game called EA Active that is a workout program geared towards adults. It has 3 workout levels - beginner, intermediate, advanced. It comes with a resistance band. All you need (besides the wii, obviously) is a nunchuck to attach to the regular wii controller. You CAN use a balance board, but it is not required.

It's a really well executed game I think. It allows you to set and track goals. It keeps a work out log for you so you can see when you work and how you're doing. It calculates how many calories you burn in a given workout session (which are about 30 minutes long). It combines all different kinds of things - resistance bands, boxing, running/walking, inline skating, etc. There is a 30-day challenge on there that gives you a workout exercise schedule and tracks how you do. The best thing is that you just start it, and it has already put the whole workout together for you like a workout video would, but it varies from day to day so it's not so monotonous. i like it. I've started it twice, but life has interrupted both times. I think this time I will actually finish. :)

oh and it will also let you track your eating, tv watching water drinking, other activities, etc. It's really geared toward changing your overall approach to healthy living. :tu

Ooh, Rebeca that sounds great!
I have the Wii Fit Plus, and while I liked it...
it was hard coming up with 'workouts' on my own,
and i didn't seem to really lose any weight doing it.

I think I'm going to go out and get the Active today.
That 30-day challenge sounds fun. What day are you on?

krista i am JUST starting it over (thanks to karah's motivational posting :giggle). i am getting ready to head up and do day one in a few minutes.

a friend of mine from church was having a tough time kicking the baby weight after #2. she and her husband did this together, and i was AMAZED at how great she looked. she said they did it on advanced and most of the time it kicked her butt, but by the end she was able to keep up and hang in there. I'm not sure, maybe I'll try intermediate first. I don't want to get discouraged and tank the whole thing.
