2022 is almost upon us.... so we are going to think back on 2021! Happy New Year - almost everyone! As per my usual for every year - this year flew by!

Was 2021 what you envisioned?
Pick three words to describe your 2021.
What was the best thing to happen this year?

These are hard for me! :giggle

2021 was more. It was more than 2020. We saw friends, family and got back to a little normal. I guess in my mind life has changed a bit - before pandemic and after... but the after really isn't after - but a continuation. A TBA.... I thought I knew what 2021 would be like... but it wasn't what I got, lol!

Three words: Hope, Lucky, Change.

Best Thing: While I think it's hard to pick one, I think for me, it was that we were lucky in my family. We were able to get back out there a bit, see friends and family, go to school, do things, have fun and while moments were challenging, we had a good year. Even with our Covid Weird Christmas!

What about you?

Was 2021 what you envisioned? Yes and no. I ended 2020 in radiation treatment and started 2021 still in treatment. I wasn't prepared for the radiation burns nor the severe fatigue. I feel like the first 5-6 months of the year were a blur, but the last half of 2021 has been much better!

Pick three words to describe your 2021. Challenging, Stressful, Joyful

What was the best thing to happen this year? Going through something very hard, and surviving - this experience made me cherish spending time with my family even more.

Was 2021 what you envisioned? Not really, though I didn’t really have any expectations
Pick three words to describe your 2021. Challenging, Stressed/stressful and burnt out (I know technically it’s two words)
What was the best thing to happen this year? Being shortlisted and interviewed for a senior lead role and while not successful due to an internal hire I was the number one external candidate.

Amazing. It's also eye opening for others, and a reminder to cherish what you do have. I don't think going through something like that is ever totally "preparable." I'm so glad that one of your words was a happy word, and your year is ending on a better note!

Was 2021 what you envisioned? For the most part. I had a gut feeling in the beginning days of the pandemic that it was going to be around for several years. At the beginning of 2021 I was hopeful because of the roll out of the vaccine that would help keep people out of the hospital.

Pick three words to describe your 2021. Can Eat Anything!

What was the best thing to happen this year? I was very hopeful at the beginning of the year because of being in the process of getting my dental implants. When that was completed in May, I was ecstatic. I've actually had to learn how to eat again since I have a full set of teeth (been over 25 years since I had all my teeth). Everything tastes so good! Another highlight was the family get together in July at my house. Only 5 days notice and we had 15 people here. 5 of the 6 grandchildren of Leo and Ruby Stoll. 2 of them had not seen each other in almost 25 years! And, just 2 weeks after that I got together with 3 of my classmates that I went to FL with my senior year in high school. I've seen each of them over the years but never at the same time. We had a blast catching up.

I hope this year proves easier for you Jennifer, and that elusive job is found! Knowing you have the skills and keep putting yourself out there - I wish you success in 2022.

I think this is my favorite post of yours - pry because of your three words! :giggle I agree that I also did feel it was going to last longer than we all thought, but I agree the vaccine made me hopeful too! Especially for my parents. I'm so glad you got to see your family and spent time with them!

2021 was a nice and quiet year for us. While we wish we could have gone places we did manage to go places near our home.

the huge obstacle for me was the day before thanksgiving when I fractured my right humerus. While it currently has been 5 weeks of pain and not doing much at all, I feel very very Lucky, fortunate and blessed.

lucky
that I did not need surgery and it wasn’t worse, and that I also found there are things I can do with my left hand

Fortunate that I have a wonderful husband who has taken great care of me

Blessed for everything we have.

May 2022 bring you all - health wealth & happiness!

Was 2021 what you envisioned? Not really - I was hopeful that it would be more normal than it was. I did make Polly though which was my dream come true.
Pick three words to describe your 2021. Home, ambivalent, sad
What was the best thing to happen this year? DS1 and his GF got engaged. (sad thing we missed it - covid red listing and flying stopped to the UK)

Congratulations on your son’s engagement!! I am so sorry you couldn’t be there in person to help celebrate, but what wonderful news Stefanie!! Happy New Year!!

Was 2021 what you envisioned?
yes and no- I was glad to get some resemblance of 'normal' for 2021- even though the last few weeks seems like early 2020 flashbacks...

Pick three words to describe your 2021.
NO- I said 'no' to more stuff in 2021 than ever before. That's been a goal for me to not say yes to everything and over extend myself!
FAMILY- We spent a lot more time together this last year- movie nights in the basement, weekends together for sports tourneys, made time to see family we weren't able to during 2020.
BLESSED- We are all happy & healthy- that's a blessing for sure!

What was the best thing to happen this year?
It may seem trivial- but the best thing to happen is that my daughter has struggled with her softball pitching. She was our team's starting pitcher and by the end of the season, wasn't pitching at all. BUT it has taught her such great life lessons! She has been working her tail off to get back and her grit & determination has made me so proud of her. Even her pitching coach told her he's proud of her and has never seen anyone work so hard. We've talked at length about things not coming easy and needing to work for what you want. She's getting there and she's earned it!

Was 2021 what you envisioned? I think my only hope for 2021 was that it would be better than 2020 and, well, it's complicated. In some ways it was better and other ways it was worse.

Pick three words to describe your 2021. I don't like trying to narrow things down to single words or favorites. Life is too complicated. I lost my Mom to Alzheimers in March. Two of my kids had successful first semesters of college. I went back to working in a school, something I intended never to do, but it's working out okay for now. There, that's three sentences at least. Not that they cover everything.

What was the best thing to happen this year? I got to drive across the USA and back in a whirlwind 3.5 week tour. But for my mental health and probably physical safety, probably the absolute best thing was that I quit the USPS job. See, it's always complicated.

2021 Was fairly normal for us - living in the country, we don't come in contact with hoards of people unless we choose to. Like Christa I broke a bone (my right clavicle) a couple of months ago and had a lot of pain with that. I'm still in my "halter" when I work at the computer and I have a sling that I still use occasionally. It hasn't slowed me down scrapping though (thankfully) it doesn't take a lot of muscle effort to use the mouse. Otherwise, things have been about the same. I'm still terrified to get on a plane. Not sure when that's going to end - probably never. We're fully vaxxed and I had bad reactions to my second shot and the booster, but hey "I'm vaxxed". I don't think this is ever going to end, so I'm sure there will be more shots in the future. :(

Three words for 2021: you don't want to know them.

Best Thing: My clavicle break did not require surgery!! I was so scared that surgery was in my future, but it was a clean break and the ortho has released me, even though I still have discomfort - the break has healed. Also most of the family got to come here for either Thanksgiving or Christmas!

Was 2021 what you envisioned? In some ways yes, and others no. I liked having a little more normalcy but there were definitely parts that have been wayyy harder than 2020.

Pick three words to describe your 2021. Exhausting, challenging, fun. The first two relating more to work this year and the last to family time.

What was the best thing to happen this year? We got to go places and do things that we hadn't been able to do for a while! We went on vacation again and several road trips. Also, DH landed a new job after being out of work for a bit.

I missed that you broke your clavicle. Ouch! I broke mine TWICE as a teenager. Sheesh. the first time hurt SO bad because it was not a clean break. I was visiting my grandparents and my Grandpa was all like "she's fine" when my grandma wanted to take me to the hospital. He said I was fine, so I decided to sit up and try to loosen up my shoulder by moving my arm all the way around and that is when it finished breaking. My grandpa heard the snap and then said "yep, she needs to go to the hospital" Ugh! I can still hear that snap in my head. :giggle It did feel better after that though. Lol. The 2nd time I broke it, it was a clean break and I knew right away what had happen. I just walked into the house and told my parents I broke my collarbone again.

Was 2021 what you envisioned? I'm not sure that I had expectations. I guess I just hoped things would open up more and allow my kids to have a mostly normal year of school and they have been able to do almost everything normally except they are still wearing masks in the school buildings. So that part has been really good for me to see for them. If you'd asked me in summer of 2020 if we'd still be dealing with Covid stuff at the end of 2021 I would not have believed it (I'm a pathetic optimist :giggle )

Pick three words to describe your 2021. ??? Moving on? NOT reading the news for my sanity? (too many words, but you know, I like words) Appreciation (for the things I used to take for granted).

What was the best thing to happen this year? My kids have been able to NOT have virtual school so far this school year and are having a normal swim season. Also my son has started getting acceptance letters for colleges, so that's been really cool to watch. I also have been able to feel creative again and have been painting a lot. :agree

It's pretty painful! I hadn't broken a bone for years and boom.

Was 2021 what you envisioned? Pretty much. One event with my hubby was canceled, but other than that everything was pretty normal. We homeschool and my hubby works from home, so for the most part, everything stayed the same. I did have to stop running due to hurting my back...now dealing with sciatica pain but not too bad, just can't do some of the things I used to be able to do...guess I'm officially getting old.

Pick three words to describe your 2021. Success (read below), Family, Old (feeling old)!

What was the best thing to happen this year?
They all involve my children. My oldest got accepted to nursing school (a hard school to get into - only 30 students accepted each semester). When you homeschool sometimes you wonder if you are doing it right (although I suppose no matter how you raise your children you are wondering if you are doing it right), and this was a confirmation that I didn't mess up! Haha. My 2nd daughter won 1st place in a talent show at our local performing arts center. She sang an original song and played on the piano. And then my 2 boys who have been in audio verbal therapy for over 5 years both "graduated" out of the program!

Was 2021 what you envisioned?
Pretty much, same as 2020 haven't been far or done much due to ongoing and forever changing covid restrictions where I live. I need a holiday in the sun or anywhere

Pick three words to describe your 2021.

Challenging, Happy, Uneventful

What was the best thing to happen this year?

Changing job roles within my works, I started with the company as a receptionist and this year I transferred to the Human Resources Department as an administrator.
