I second the motion for a Bunn coffee maker topping the list. We also have a keruig (for later in the day when someone just wants a quick cup) because the Bunn is a full pot gravity brewer and you can't just make 1 cup of coffee in it. BUT ... the Keurig died this past week! Ugh ... it's our 2nd one and it is not even that old. What the heck with those things?!? I may try to descale it with copious amounts of vinegar to see if that helps it.

And along the lines of warmth ... I have a little space heater in my office that warms me up so I don't have to turn the heat on too high when it is just me. I have the worst internal heating/cooling system ... sometimes I think I must be part reptile - actually needing to go lie on a sunny rock to get my body temps at a comfortable level.

YAY another friend of the BUNN!! LOL @jenn mccabe We drink too much coffee in this house for a Kuerig!

I know right ... same here for the most part -there are 3 avid coffee drinkers here. (It's mostly my son that uses the Keurig for his late evening/nighttime coffee fixes.) All hail the BUNN!

Girl....................I just replaced my BUNN Tuesday with a new one... They last us about 3-5 years.. it started leaking and I was using it until it really leaked before opening up the new one.. trying to get every last cup of coffee out of it! Love my BUNN... Have owned one now for 15 years.. this is actually my 3rd one. Dad got me started on them as I would burn out Mr Coffee every year and would pay $30-40 every year.. LOL the BUNN is quick and cost effective for us! That and Starbucks.. you are so right with that being on the top of the list @AnneofAlamo Anne.. Love ya Girlfriend!
That's hilarious ... we would go through a Mr Coffee every year too. I thought it was just us that abused our coffee machine. :giggle We also tried the Percolators for awhile and they never could withstand the heavy use for more than a year either. I think I 've had my current BUNN for about 4 years now.

We have at different times been without both power and water (but thankfully not at the same time) and both times going without REALLY made me appreciate them so much! I think water the most though. Even when we didn't have power we had lovely hot showers because we have a gas water heater and that made the no power more bearable.

If we are talking luxuries... I sure would miss my iPhone if I didn't have it. I joke that I don't even know how to get to my home without it... but I'm only partially joking! It's my calendar and my map and my alarm and my source of useless information from the interwebs! :) OH and my library! I read every book now on my phone.

if I was buying another one I think I'd prefer the all in one piece b/c that one just pops into the pod placement area whereas the 3 piece one requires me to put my finger under the pod area and push up to pop that out before putting the refillable pod in. Its not a big deal but saves a few seconds of time :)
This is good to know - thank you! I like the idea of saving money by using my own coffee + not wasting so much plastic!

For me it's the electricity that is almost a total guarantee because we are on the Police Station grid. If they lose power, it's more likely to be cause by a major issue. I could live without it in the winter for a short time because we have gas fireplaces and a gas cooktop. But yeah, a/c loss would kill me. Water? oh that's a biggie too.

I am super thankful for power that keeps our refrigerator turned on. I don't drink coffee, but am addicted to caffeine, in the form of Coke Zero. I love having our garage refrigerator stocked full of drinks so I will be able to stay awake and not too grumpy.

I am also super thankful for medical advancements that allowed me to get the bulging disc in my neck replaced with a titanium/enamel artificial disc. I haven't had a migraine in the 3 weeks since my surgery, where beforehand I had migraines VERY often- at least 2 a week.
