Our horrible streets are being repaved (in a bit). This is due to our water meters being replaced. Everything was fine, until they got to our main this morning.
Geyser of water blew, and we are without water for a bit.
It makes me really grateful for the fact we do have running water in our home.
Amazing how blessed we are in our countries.
Then it got me thinking what convenience do you so love....

to be very silly...my BUNN coffee maker with Starbucks ground espresso in it probably tops the list!
 
I’m with ya on the water thing. I love having running water and HOT water to boot! In fact, I’ve decided this morning calls for a long, hot, bubble bath with a Hallmark Christmas movie playing. I’m gonna go fill my jetted tub right now. So I guess I’ll have to add technology and cheesy movies to my list of things I’m grateful for, in addition to the normal family, food, shelter ones.
 
Funny! I literally wrote "water, piped hot or cold on demand, directly into my house" on my alphabetical list of things for which I'm grateful, which I read aloud before we dug into the turkey feast last Thursday. Our family tradition is to go around the table saying what we're grateful for. My daughter and her girlfriend were so sweet talking about how grateful they are about each other. And my son was very funny, as usual!

Anyway, something along the lines of iPhone, computer, internet is what I'd say is my favorite convenience of today. I love being connected to so much information and people, so easily. Of course, the ease is also a downfall and that's why I'm typing fast because I really need to get off this computer and get going on my day. :D
 
Heat!!! It isn't that cold here yet, so not a terribly big issue, but this morning was morning #3 that we woke up to no heat upstairs. The other 2 mornings my hubby was able to reset the furnace and get it going, but then it died again in the night, so something is up. Repair person coming later today. Hope it just needs a good cleaning or something.
 
I love my washer and dryer. After so many years renting and having to put up with whatever outdated appliances the landlord had installed, finally having our own nice washer and drier is the best. They are made in Japan and they play a hilarious, happy little song when they are done washing or drying. It's very cheerful!

oh yes, add heat to my list too! it was really cold walking to and from the Jazz game last night. Thank goodness for heat and heated leather seats is an added bonus!

Yes, yes, yes! Having your own washer and dryer is heavenly! Mine are over 20 years old, but I've kept them running with a few DIY repairs from watching youtube videos. Just a couple of weeks ago, I replaced the electrical cord on my dryer to get it running again. I was dreading going to the laundry mat and took the back off the dryer to investigate. A trip to Home Depot and $30 later, we were back drying clothes. Someday, my washer and dryer will die beyond repair, but until then I'm gonna get every last ounce of washing and drying outta em!
 
For me, it would have to be my Keurig coffee maker so I can quickly get an afternoon cup of joe (I'm the only one who drinks it after noon time) and also a $2 item my hubs picked up on FB bidding wars last year, it is a cuisinart stainless steel coffee urn so we now have a second one. It comes in handy on wkends when hubs is home to drink more coffee in the morning so the first pot empties out pretty quick. Now I can get 2 filled up and it gets us thru the morning.

As you can tell, coffee is a big thing to me :)

Also, am thankful that Starbucks makes a great decaf blend so I am able to mix that with my other coffee to cut down on the afternoon caffeine.

So my last coffee related love is our keurig refillable pod so that I can make my own blend (with the starbucks decaf). I know some of the other brands don't make refillable pods so am so glad we got a keurig, it gives me the best of both worlds....plop in a starbucks, McDonalds or Timmies pod or take a minute longer and scoop out some of my homemade blend to put in the refillable pod.

I am glad to hear that you like this - I have been on the fence about getting the refillable pod for my Keurig at work, but it sounds like I should go for it!
 
Heat for the winter, air conditioning for the summer, screens (to keep out pesky mosquitoes in the summer), and water. We have well water, so if our power goes out, which it does with some regularity, we have no water, no flushing toilets. That can be a real bummer...
 
My Keurig is definitely up there, but right now my favorite thing is the remote start on my car! It's nice and toasty when I have to go out in the morning and it's 25 degrees :)
 
I second the motion for a Bunn coffee maker topping the list. We also have a keruig (for later in the day when someone just wants a quick cup) because the Bunn is a full pot gravity brewer and you can't just make 1 cup of coffee in it. BUT ... the Keurig died this past week! Ugh ... it's our 2nd one and it is not even that old. What the heck with those things?!? I may try to descale it with copious amounts of vinegar to see if that helps it.

And along the lines of warmth ... I have a little space heater in my office that warms me up so I don't have to turn the heat on too high when it is just me. I have the worst internal heating/cooling system ... sometimes I think I must be part reptile - actually needing to go lie on a sunny rock to get my body temps at a comfortable level.

I think its worth it b/c I can put my own blend in and it is much cheaper than always using the pods. I have two types (one at home and one at our trailer). I have one that has a hinge lid and is all one piece and I have another that is 3 pieces, hard plastic shell, filter and screw on lid. I use them both and neither is much hassle but if I was buying another one I think I'd prefer the all in one piece b/c that one just pops into the pod placement area whereas the 3 piece one requires me to put my finger under the pod area and push up to pop that out before putting the refillable pod in. Its not a big deal but saves a few seconds of time :)
 
The convenience/modern technology that I'm most grateful for currently is the spinal cord stimulator in my back. I know some people rage against technology (and there are sometimes valid reasons) but in this case, technology and science worked together to make me a person again and giving me pain relief. I'll forever be grateful for having a hot shower on demand (it's one of my fave conveniences), but to know I can take one without crying now is beyond amazing.

Beyond that, AC in Florida is a must . . . I'm grateful for that modern convenience. I'd be moving elsewhere without it.

i have scrapped a page about how much i love modern appliances (with a photo of my front loader washing machine)! your happy little song totally tops mine though with it's obnoxious beeping!

i wish they had this refillable option for all coffee machines!

Seconding/Thirding A/C and adding Spotify subscription to the list - A/C is pretty obvious (summer is coming here) but SPotify i appreciate for the lack of droning and blaring ad's and so i can avoid unsuitable lyrics playing in the car etc

Girl....................I just replaced my BUNN Tuesday with a new one... They last us about 3-5 years.. it started leaking and I was using it until it really leaked before opening up the new one.. trying to get every last cup of coffee out of it! Love my BUNN... Have owned one now for 15 years.. this is actually my 3rd one. Dad got me started on them as I would burn out Mr Coffee every year and would pay $30-40 every year.. LOL the BUNN is quick and cost effective for us! That and Starbucks.. you are so right with that being on the top of the list @AnneofAlamo Anne.. Love ya Girlfriend!
