Is anyone participating in the 100 Day Project (#The100DayProject)? It starts on February 18th. One of the artists I follow, Roben-Marie Smith, participates in this annually, and her projects are usually gorgeous (and so inspiring).

I always want to do this and then get stressed out trying to decide what to do for my 100 days. Too many ideas versus low energy levels... it makes the decision hard.

Now I'm thinking about doing a scrapbook page a day for 100 days. I want to get back to scrapping, and I feel like it would be a fairly easy commitment. I usually want to tackle the MOC every January, but end up not doing it. This would be different because I wouldn't have the challenge restrictions.

Anyone else have ideas or projects lined up?

I have started the 100 Day Project so many times, and failed miserably so many times. Most of the time I have challenged myself to play around with my big camera. Scrapbook pages has crossed my mind, but I'm not sure I could do it lol. I haven't tried for a couple of years, maybe I need to give it some thought again this year!

You have got me thinking...... maybe I as I make greeting cards to sell at our local craft store ( all funds from my own sales goes to charity)... I could create a new card front each day for 100 days. I would not be able to share them in the gallery here as I use products from other designers who have given me permission to use their designs and they do not sell here at The Lily Pad.
@scrapsandsass maybe we could use this thread you have started to encourage each other. I am now going to mark my calendar to start the 100 days on the 18th !

I did this twice. First year, made a granny square every day. Think I got 87 done, quite good for being me. Second time, I crocheted a Mandala. No pattern, decided from day to day what today's row would be. At the end, the rows where loooong, and I couldn't do a full row every day. But I did my 100 days.

That sounds like fun. I may have to look into it.
I probably create at least a layout per day anyway.

I have done this twice... the first year 2016 I did 100 days of coffee... took a photo of my coffee mug, or me and my coffee mug, every single day for the 100 days... afterwards I scrapped a few collage pages for each month using those photos.... even my friends got in the act to encourage me to take my photos.

The second time I did it I did a craft project every day... some were scrapping, some were cards, some quilling. It was just something creative.

I enjoyed both years that I did these but also felt a little pressure (self inflicted) to come up with something to share everyday. Now I do a daily post (since covid lockdown) and so the daily thing is a habit.... so it might be easier to come up with a new idea. Will need to think quickly I guess if I need to start on the 18th.

I haven't crocheted since about 1986, and I just found a new-to-me crochet stitch I want to try- so I bought about $60 of yarn and plan to make a throw/blanket. Here is the one I saw on reddit and fell in love with, so i am gonna crochet-lift this blanket. 2024-02-06 08.08.50.jpg

I am going to try it this year! :backing I am going to do a hands-on mixed media/art journaling project, using a small art journal my sister made me years ago!! It has a hard cover and then several paper signatures kept in place with a ribbon, so you can easily slip the paper out, work on it and then put it back, or add more. It just has blank pages so I have just cut down some papers and have inserted them. The original paper was white and the same size and I have used some different textured papers in varying sizes to fill the folder so I now have 100 spaces to create a small arty/AJ/mixed media piece each day.

I kept it small because I am hoping that I can just do some very quick designs rather than spending an entire day on it as I seem to get bogged down looking through my stash for 'just the right' paper or ribbon or stamp or etc etc ........ lol! I might even just get some bits and pieces out each evening and then use those for my project. I might do some 'trial runs' during the week and see how I go, especially now that I have cleaned off my craft desk and can acually see it! :giggle so feeling a bit inspired to get started! :)

I follow Roben-Marie on Instagram and LOVE her stuff! I have never attempted the 100 days project, but would really love to try it! If I did, I'd probably do a tiny little journal and just do mark making or mixed media in it. I'd have to make a art station upstairs in my dining room if I was ever going to be successful. My "craft room" is in the basement and sometimes, out of sight, out of mind, ya know? Thanks for planting the seed in my head! I'm going to have to ponder this and maybe jump in!

I started thinking I should do some kind of photography challenge of this??? Since I have this inflammation in my wrist, I can't knit or crochet. But I thought, I rarely use my camera these days. I mean, the phone is always there, I snap photos with that. But I was thinking this could be a chance to get back to proper photography.

Not sure what I would photograph? Maybe just try and get "artsy" with the camera. Also, a couple of days I would have to use my smaller camera, cuz hubby is going on a research trip in March, and he'll need the camera then. Or I should just use my smaller camera all the time. It's a Canon G7, it's not total crap. Also, it's smaller in case I want to go somewhere and take the photos.

What do you say? Is photography okay for this challenge?

I am the same as you . . I feel inspired, start and always get overwhelmed and never finish! The one I stuck with the most (but didn't make it any where near half way) was keeping it simple and working with paper scraps.

In May I'm popping into my daughters school for a week as a guest artist and to work with the young children, I think I'd like to explore collage fodder with them and making a simple collage. So I might for my 100 days, to get into the mood and the creative process again of making fodder make simple scraps from marks and home-made stamps and stencils etc. and make some simple collages. Put myself into training ready for my May teaching :giggle

Ooh. I like that. I want to learn to crochet and knit. I was recently on a cruise where they had a beginning class, and it didn't really teach anything much (knitting) other than the initial casting (?) and I was inspired, so my daughter and I found a store in Greece where we bought yarn and needles. She actually got really far on a scarf. I didn't do anything. LOL. I need to get back and do it.
That sounds fabulous. I love that idea. I am the same. I can get really bogged down, so I need limitations. :giggle

Yes, the old out of sight out of mind issue! I have a studio outside in the yard that my husband and stepson built me. It needs to be organized because it sort of became a catch-all, and I'm overwhelmed and avoid it because it's easy to do so. Roben-Marie is just so inspiring and her stuff is so yummy. I hope you join in. :)

Definitely!!!! That was my original thought. A photo every day. I thought it would be a really cool way to approach the project. Do it!!!!! I have days when I just can't get out and about, and I literally have tens of thousands of photos I haven't scrapped, so that's why I was leaning toward scrapping, but it doesn't preclude me from also doing more-intentional photos if I feel like it on any given day.

That's so cool. You will have so much fun. I did it for a couple of years with my grandson's classes. I absolutely loved it and wished I could teach art full time. I think that is a great idea to explore and you have such a good eye for design and mark-making. I can't wait to see what you come up with!!!!

So many creatives. I'm getting really excited about you sharing all of your inspiration and energy!!!

I tried to do the 100 Day Project back in 2019. I think I had about 20 layouts completed and then life. You know?

I'd like to try it again this year. I really need to explore my creativity a bit more, and I need to be creating daily as I have so many photos to scrap!

I like this idea - maybe 100 days of creativity? Could be a digital scrapbook page, a paper scrapbook page, photography?

    Let's do this!!!

Love it. I think that's my game plan. I may try some other creative pursuits, but always have the scrapbook page as a safety net. ;)

    Nice!!! Great start.
