Whew! Today has been a much busier day than I anticipated. It seems like every time I think I'm getting a day of nothingness, something comes up. Today it was hunting for track shoes before practices start tomorrow.
But anyway, I thought I'd just ask a random question I saw the other day because I've thought long and hard and I'm not sure just yet who I'd choose! I'd love to see your answers!

Who would you most like to sit next to on a 10 hour flight and why?

Well, we did a 14 hour flight to and another back from China. So anyone in my family. Or maybe a friend.

I read a book once called Sister Chicks On the Loose. It was about an adventure a woman took and her friend that went along. They had money, so they changed their plans, did bunny trails, etc. So I thought about that, which of my friends would I love to travel with to some place fun and not have any set plans, etc. You know - just hop on a plane and go. Or who would I take a cross country car trip with and not have a specific plan - except maybe to stop at whatever strikes our fancy - you know, go see the giant ball of yarn, etc. I think I only have one friend that is spontaneous enough to do that with. I would take that friend on a 10 hour flight - although there is a good chance we would be asked to be quiet and stop talking.

My husband. He always has all the movies on his iPad so we would definitely not be bored. And when he falls asleep and I don’t (I cannot sleep on planes) I can watch what I want on it

I would say my husband as he is the one I travel with but one of the last times we flew anywhere he informed me he had his eye on the door ready to get out as they sat us in the very front seats with us having only a wall in front of us to look at when looking forward ( there was a window beside us). He was starting to feel a little claustrophobic.

No one.

And here's why.

The last flights I was on, I called Southwest about getting a seatbelt extender. I am not a small chick, but I really only needed an extra buckle length to be comfortable. I have to sit in a weird way because of my back issues. ANYWAY.

I was told, "Oh, you're a person of size." I was all ready to start losing it because really? Person of size? Then, the nice woman explained that not only would I get a seatbelt extender, but that I could purchase an extra seat, and then after my flights were over that I would be refunded the cost of that seat/ticket. She gave me instructions on who to speak to about discreetly getting the seatbelt extender. All so I could be comfortable on the flight.

Those were THE BEST FLIGHTS I'VE EVER HAD. No one was beside me. I had a window seat with an empty seat between me and the person in the aisle seat. I ended up having LOVELY BUT SHORT conversations with all my seat mates, who were similarly enamored that there was a seat between us. I allowed them to spread out a bit to put their reading material or whatever after I explained that there would be no one sitting between us. It was odd, but I had male seat mates each time, and each one of them helped me retrieve my carryon luggage down from the overhead compartments.

I'm breaking out in a cold sweat just READING all of your answers. Ergo - I despise flying! Next time I have to fly, I'm going to buy that middle seat and the one by the window and sit there - I'll tell you WHAT!!! I could totally afford that on Allegiant. @gonewiththewind

My plan is to never have to fly again if possible, but if I do, I'll be trying to take advantage of that. I don't know how it works in the COVID world we're in now.

I HOPE to never fly again, too. I'm already plotting on how to buy that extra middle seat (just in case). It's probably hard to do in the covid world - everything else is. We could carry a life-sized blow-up doll on the plane and sit it in the seat - as long as "it" had a mask on, it would probably be okay. :lol:lol:lol

Like @gonewiththewind my answer is no one if I can help it. If I’m with family I don’t mind being squished together. If I’m travelling alone I get special assistance to/from checking to the plane and with that comes an aisle seat. If I’m lucky I might have one other person by the window and I just ask if it’s possible for them to board early with me so I don’t have to keep moving out of the seat and blocking the aisle. 99% of the time they are agreeable and I just repay the favour by letting them out early when we land as I’m the last to get off because of needing extra help.

Obviously my husband :) I love travelling and flying is no worries for me (at least BEFORE COVID, it wasn't). We enjoy going places, and 10 hours means it is some place exotic!

If it was 10 hours next to someone that has passed, I would have to say my parents, so I could enjoy 10 hours in the company of them both again. I miss them so much.

Funny you asking that question today... if it was yesterday, I would have a completely different answer.....
I'll come back later when Sarita can help me read your answers (in case you don't know me, the reason you don't see me often here in the forum is that I have neurological issues apart from my other gazillion on health issues) reading at this point in time is extremely difficult for me) and I'll expand on my answer BUT...
as I said, up till yesterday I would have a different answer.
Last night I watched a program about the failure of the Boeing Max, I think it started 2018, planes going down and killing the whole crew and passengers.... so right now? not sure I will feel safe to get on a plane
there is an article about the documentary here, I haven't read it, but by the headlines I think it will inform ....
will come back later, as we do 17+ hours flights to Argentina and Brazil to see the family...I have many stories to tell!!!

I would have to go with my hubby. We've done several long flights together. He just has to sit in the aisle seat since he has to go to the bathroom so much!

Realistically I'd pick my hubby every time because the thought of conversations for 10 hours with anyone else exhausts me, but if I'm be fun... I'd say Jimmy Buffett for two reasons... one, that means we'd probably be in 1st class and going somewhere awesome and warm and two, I'd love to be able to have an unhurried conversation with him. He fascinates me because he sings about the live free tropical life style, but he's also an insanely good business man and I bet doesn't actually sit still very often.

Hopefully I will never have to fly anywhere but if I absolutely had to and had to sit by someone I would pick my husband or kids.

Who would you most like to sit next to on a 10 hour flight and why?

No one would also be my first choice.
Next would be any member of my family.

I tend to sleep or read or watch movies anyway.
I don't want to be squished or asked questions or be pinned it when I might need the facilities.
I mean maybe there would be someone fascinating that I could imagine talking to, but my introvert would kick in, and I like myself, the quiet in my mind, and thinking my own thoughts. I hate making small talk.

I have an upcoming flight of 5 hours and then in the 5 hours time difference. My first flight is only an Hour, then a 4 hour layover, I will sit in the aisle for that one. The ‘big’ flight I get a window seat (easier to sleep) and I pay extra to get the seats with extra leg room. I’m short, but I get restless leg on a plane so I like the xtra room on a long flight.

I sit next to whomever as I am going solo.

No one would also be my first choice.

Yep!

No one is my first choice. I don't want to have to deal with anyone. But if not, then my kid. He won't talk to me because he'll be engrossed in his electronics. Then my husband. Because he likes to talk to me, and sometimes I don't wanna.

I just love all these husband answers because honestly, my husband would probably not even be in my top 5 :giggle He can get under my skin quicker than just about anyone lol.
I think I'd probably choose no one since there is never a time I am all alone.
Then I'd probably choose my older kids because we just don't ever get much time to sit and chat.
The youngest and I probably spend 10 hours a week in the car together and he talks ALOT!
Now, if I'm dreaming, maybe someone like Paul McCartney or Tom Hanks or Morgan Freeman or .....
