to scrap a page? Looking at the figures for how many layouts everyone has made during the year made me wonder how long it takes you to complete a page and what your process is. It takes me forEVER to make a layout! I do it in short bursts here and there but I would imagine it's a total of 2-5 hours maybe. I start with my photos and arrange them until I'm happy with the design, then comes the title, and then as many elements as I can fit on. And then a few more How do you do it?
I'm with you Kate. Here's my process 1) Place all elements on paper (15 min) 2) Pick photos and process them (30 - 45 min) 3.) Finish Layout (2 hours+) 4.) Upload to Galleries, update forum links and Leave Comments (1.5 hours) Its a LONG process
it depends.....but in general I am pretty fast...1 hr or less usually..but my pages are not nearly as intricate as like Tiki's super creative pages. lol I never start a page without knowing what photo I will use. I don't really include that process in my scrap time. I edit some photos that I think I will want to use in the future for kits I know are coming or are already out. So by the time I have my kit picked out and I decide to start a page my photo is already edited and ready to go. When it comes to page design the photo is always first on my page. The placement of elements is based on the photo. Same for like the colors and things I will use. After that my little clusters come together pretty fast. I just don't fret about it. I just do it and get approval from one of my girls and then I move on, lol!!!
You can do those gorgeous pages of yours in less than an hour? Girl - I am so jealous! Now that's talent!
Mine take many, many hours. I don't even like to think how many! But probably a third of my scrap time is waiting for my computer. It is so slow that I just sit back and wait for it to think about a transform etc. Very frustrating.
3 hours average. I look at the kit, see what I like in it (the more I like it, the harder it gets). Then I choose a photo. Then a BG paper. I select all of my favorite elements and drag to the page. Then it's moving, resizing, duplicating, tweaking, until I'm happy or totally sick of it. 3 hours. Sometimes more.
I´m with you, Kate...2-5 hours mostly more...I think, I would ( will ? ) be a grandma when I finish the first fotobook for my children...
Wow, you girls who can finish in an hour or less are impressive!! It normally takes me 1.5-2 hours, and these days, it seems like it is taking even more. I don't really have a set process that I do (and maybe that is the problem lol). If I have a kit that I really love and like the elements for, I have been known to start without a picture and just start working on the design or using a template and then add a picture towards the middle or end. And, Kate, I love how you do your pictures and then your title and then start adding elements. I am going to have to try that, b/c I love good title work, but that normally is the last thing that I add to my pages. great tip!
It's something that really works for me because I always use loads of photos so they need to go on first. Then because I don't want my title to get lost in the mass of other stuff I just *know* I will add, that comes next - the bigger the better
I'm usually 2-3 hours. some nights things just click and before I know it I have 3 pages done, but not very often.
I average 2.5 hours. Some take more time, others less. I had a LOT of late nights this past year since DH and I were living in separate cities. Insomnia helped me scrap. As for a process, the photo is always the first thing on my page and then I go from there. It is impossible for me to work on a page without a pic. I know. I've tried.
I usually scrap from 1-3 hours and I also put the pic on the page first and then designate a spot for words.
It takes me days, sometimes weeks.... I'd say on average it only takes me about 2 hours of continuous work to get a page done (if I'm feeling especially enlightened), however that time stretches out dramatically because I'm easily distracted by shiny objects - like an IM, or my email, or the Interwebs.
for me it really depends some pages can come together in 30 mins and I've probably spent up to 2.5 hours on one. But lately I dont sit down and finish a page because I can't get that amount of time by myself so i grab a couple minutes here and there.
It usually takes me 2 - 4 hours to complete a layout. I always start with my photo, then I designate a spot for my journaling and then I start added paper and elements and smooshing them around until I start to like something. I add my title last...but I've been known to totally re-do a layout just so I can get the title I want to fit...so I need to try Kate's trick of putting the title on at the beginning.
Me I normally need 1 to 2 hours for a normal page...sometimes more, sometimes less I always have to choose my picture first and have to have a minimal clue of what I want the page to be like in my head...Then I start with the papers and elements...I always do the title and journaling on the end.
I would say 1 to 2 hours, and occasionally more. I always start with the story I want to tell, even in the journaling isn't done yet. Then I find pictures to match and go from there.
