Summer is my least favorite season. Fall is my favorite. I can't wait until our first freeze to kill off the mosquitoes. We live in woods and they are fierce. We used to have 2 mosquito magnets running (on propane), but they both died this year and we haven't bought replacements yet. So the mosquitoes are loving it. If summer would cooperate with no humidity and gentle breezes and no mosquitoes, it might move up in the ranks a bit.
That's the pits! We rented an apartment once that had a nice lake behind it. Unfortunately, it had a lot of standing water, and a ton of mosquitoes! I'm so sorry they both died! That is one thing I haven't seen much in the desert. I know they exist, but they have not been part of my summer experience this year.
It feels like fall outside, with rain and not very summery temperatures. But we really didn't have much summer yet, so I'm hoping for another few weeks of 'real' summer weather. That being said, I did look for fall decorations on Pinterest and some online stores today. The stores are not really ready yet around here. I really want to make a new fall wreath, but I need supplies first.
Isn't it so very weird?!!? Poor trees are so confused in the desert LOL! I wish I was an October baby!! I could use that as my excuse for loving fall and creepy things LOL!! I can't wait to see your cruise photos!! Alaska is BEAUTIFUL!!! I have a girlfriend who lived there for many years while her husband was stationed there in the AF...she has some amazing photos! Oh man...do you typically get a late start on summer vacation or was this year just an oddball year? I wish I knew why AZ started summer vacation so early compared to all of the other states. Ohhh boo...sorry your summer is being silly!! Hurry up Autumn!!! We NEED you!! I would LOVE to go back East and experience fall in VT or NH...somewhere with lots and lots and lots of color and COLD temps!! I'm exhausted just reading your schedule!! WAOH!! And you sleep when? LOL! I am so jealous that your evenings/nights cool off!! We're still in the high 80's - low 100's for the lows!! There's no window opening until late November, and even then it can get too hot during the day! Oh WOW!! I kind of wish our kids were on the same school schedule as everyone else! I do miss the lazy summer routine though and the no homework battles LOL!! Thank you!! It hasn't helped me feel any cooler yet though LOL! YAY!!! Hope you have a fun and safe vacation!! I HATE summer...I don't like the heat!! Mosquitoes are nasty little creatures!! Will they start having the magnets on clearance soon?? Are you looking for some with more leaves or more floraly ones? Or the cool mesh kind? It's crazy...I first started seeing fall decorations in the stores out here at the beginning of July!! @bbymks5 No, we always start that late. My state is one of the last states to start their vacation, always End of July to middle of September. I really wouldn't like it any other way. Some states start in June and go back to school in August. To me June is almost still spring and going back in August in the heat of summer is weird. I guess it's what you are used to.
I too love the fall but I like all the seasons so I don't like to rush them. I love fall for the crisp air and the turning leaves. It will be here in another month so I can wait, but I do love it
No decorations yet but I am so ready for the fall weather. This week was nearly 20°F cooler than two weeks ago which I think is delightful. I am done with summer (too hot to play outside weather) but a little anxious for fall. My baby (I mean three year old) is going to preschool for the first time. Yikes! Not sure I am prepared for this!
This summer has been a good one with lots of sunshine and I haven't minded the heat b/c we have a/c at home. I have to admit, the lack of rain has been really nice (except for the forest fires in the BC interior) and waking up every morning for almost 2 months to sunshine has been awesome. I heard this is the best summer weather we've had in almost 20 years, as the west coast of BC is known for its rainy weather. The other great thing about summer is the longer days of light. I love to take Taz out for walks after dinner and it's still light out. That's one of the things I don't like about fall/winter...the shorter daylight hours. But.... Fall is my fave season. I am a sweater person, I love the clothes of fall, comfy sweaters, jean jackets and scarves. I've got a huge collection of them all. I love to snuggle up with an afghan in my chair and watch TV, I put on some comfy boots or runners or take Taz for a photo walk thru the neighborhood parks. I love to capture some of the outdoor fall color and see the snow geese as they pass by the west coast on their winter flight. Fall is crockpot time. Stews, soups, one pot casseroles, comfort food. I could make them in the summer but somehow it just seems right to wait til the fall. Trader Joes has a lot of pumpkin flavored stuff. I love their pumpkin flavored coffee. I have started diffusing essential oils and can't wait to make some fall scented blends. I've been filling up a pinterest board with recipes for oils. I don't like the rain that increases in the fall or the lessening days of sunlight but everything else is perfect. Oh ya...also, fall means the start up of all the TV season premieres (you all know I'm a tvaholic LOL).
I just got back from a mini run to the Dollar Store and they have some cheap fall decorations so I bought 3 of them and they are already hanging or placed. Some schools around here have already started back but my grandkids don't go back for a couple of more weeks. Temps have cooled off some but it is still warm enough that I need to wear shorts or cool clothes. I have a granddaughter with an October birthday and she absolutely LOVES anything fall and especially Halloween related. I also love fall but seeing her smiles with all the fall decorations makes it ever better.
Maybe after I go to the beach next week I'll feel like I'm ready for fall. Right now, I just need some peace and serenity that the beach brings me.
I would love to see spring temps in June here LOL!! I wish the schools out here had February and March and went back in April, that way the kids could go outside and play and had school during the summer. I love all of the seasons except summer LOL!! Please send some cooler weather my way next month Ohhh how fun, your little is going to have a blast in preschool and you'll be GREAT!!! It's too hot for anyone to be outside during the summer here too so I feel your pain! Oh man...wildfires are devastating, are they still going?? 20 years is a long time to go without having a good summer...YIKES! I'll send you some heat and sunshine this fall if you can send me some rain?!? I love snuggle clothes too and comfort food too!! Best ever!!! YAY!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has some stuff up LOL! I need to hit Dollar Tree this weekend to some of their floral picks for a couple mason jars I painted last year. Halloween is the best!! I'm ready! We've had so much HOT sun & now it's been super smoky due to the fires in BC & Western Montana. It actually rained a bit yesterday & it was SO nice to have a cooler day, clouds & football on the tv!!! Fall is my favorite too- I love the cool mornings, but long warmer evenings & of course football season! I haven't decorated yet for fall- I usually do it after labor day weekend!
