LOL. I have ALOT of neighbors who watch my kids ALOT for free. I want to bake for them for Xmas. I know some of you must do something. I think I remember Gina (Miller) doing something about it on her blog ... oh ... a few years ago??

    Ideas anyone?

I've always thought chocolate dipped/dripped pretzel sticks totally rock. You melt the chocolate bark, did the pretzels in and then roll them around in stuff, like colored sugar, seasonal M&Ms, crushed candy cane, etc. Or you can drizzle the white and the chocolate on them. Easy and the kids can help.

I love Christmas baking. I will have to see what recipes I have readily available. You can get really cute already decorated chinese take out boxes to put the treats in.

    Chocolate Chip Shortbread Sticks

    ½ cup confectioner’s sugar
    1 tsp vanilla
    2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips, divided

    1. Beat butter, sugar and vanilla in a large bowl with electric mixer until blended. On low speed, beat in flour until blended.
    2. Stir in ½ cup of the chips.
    3. Cover and chill till firm.
    4. Shape heaping tablespoons dough into 3 inch long logs.
    5. Place on slightly greased cookie sheets.
    6. Bake at 350 for 8 minutes or until golden brown.
    7. Remove to wire rack to cool.
    8. Melt ½ cup of chips, stir in 1 ½ teaspoons vegetable oil.

I love Oreo balls! Crush a pack of oreos, beat a pack of cream cheese and then mix together and roll. Yummo! And you can cover them in chocolate if you like! Even more delicious when really cold/frozen.

my all time FAVORITEst Christmas cookie!!! The solid mint chocolate wafers are getting harder to find (Andes mints just aren't the same), well worth the effort! These 1949 Pilsbury bake off winners have been a staple in my family's Christmas tradition since the recipe was first published!

    Starlight Mint Surprise

    1 c sugar
1/2 c firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 c margarine or butter, softened
    2 tbs water
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    2 eggs
    3 c all-purpose flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    1/2 tsp salt
2 (6-oz) pkg solid mint candy chocolate wafers
    60 walnuts halves or pieces
In large bowl, combine sugar, brown sugar, margarine, water, vanilla and eggs; blend well. In medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt; mix well. Add to sugar mixture; mix at low speed until well blended. Cover with plastic wrap; refrigerate at least 2 hours for easier handling.

Heat oven to 375°F. Using about 1 tablespoon dough, press dough around each candy wafer to cover completely. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Top each with walnut half.

Bake at 375°F. for 7 to 9 minutes or until light golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheets.

HIGH ALTITUDE - Above 3,500 feet: No change.

All these sound good. I always take my yummy pumpkin rolls and poppy seed bread over to friends or people that have helped me out during the year. They always look forward to it, or that's what they tell me. LOL

Mmmm, you all are making me hungry! I second the chocolate dipped pretel idea! We made those last year for the girls' teachers and they were a huge hit! I mean who can resist the whole sweet/salty combo right? We rolled them in colored sugar, sprinkles, and crushed Oreos, YUM!

    oh these all look yummy.
i totally forgot to share this way back when.
but it is just too good!
    and too easy to make
    to NOT put out there.

    Cereal Candy

    1 Box Corn Chex
    1 Box Golden Grahams
    4 Cups Coconut (wide)
    3 Cups Almonds
    Mix well.

    Candy mixture:
    3 Cubes butter
    2 Cups Light Karo Syrup
    2 Cups Sugar

Bring to boil and boil 3 minutes. Pour over cereal mixture and mix well. Put on lightly buttered cookie sheet and let cool.
I am able to fill 25-30 medium cellophane bags with just this much. Then i add a cut tag and ribbon. Everybody LOVES it,
and now expects it from our family every year.
