Hey M3 friends! I'm here to bring you this month's technique challenge! Now as I post this, I only just saw now that Sissy Sparrows just posting a video about masking a couple of weeks ago and that totally bummed me out thinking I was coming out with some fun stuff. BUT.. My technique challenge is using a photo and masking it using a separate layer where you do all your fun masking techniques on. So I hope there will be a tiny difference and I'm not boring you to tears! I also have a couple of brushes to help you on your way that you can download here: DOWNLOAD FREE BRUSHES Please see the video by clicking the link below: SEE VIDEO HERE My challenge for you is to: 1. use a full page photo as I did in the video and make it B+w 2. Choose 1 favorite background paper that will show through the photo 3. Go to town using the masking technique challenge shown in the video. (If you don't have PS / PSE - please consult your programs ability to mask or use the brushes to erase areas that you want the background to show through) *Please note that I am aware that I *could* have used a masking layer on the photo directly but choose it's own layer because it works nice and you change out your photos easier incase you wanted to AND you could save that layer for future use as an overlay or mask As I mentioned in the video - in photoshop there are always 50 different ways to do 1 thing Have fun! M3 Challenge Guidelines: You have 2 weeks to complete this challenge. Ends Friday, June 19th. - Your page must contain at least 60% of M3 products - Post your layout in this thread and the M3 gallery. One person will win a $10 coupon to the Just Jaimee shop.
I have to say that it's soo cool to hear your voice Jaimee! And that was an excellent video demo, awesome brushes as well xx
This was fun! I used the freebie grungy brushes (thank you, Jaimee) and a round brush on the neon tubes.
Thanks for the bonus brushes,... I love masking!! I remember way back when I started with Photo Shop.. masking was always a stumbling block... for the past many years masking has becoming my friend! Looking forward to playing!
Jaimee, I would have expected you to have a big accent but I heard almost none. Here is my page for the challenge.
Ok, I'm back....first off....Jaimee.....I adore your voice and I laughed when you said cool, awesome and icky.....as I say these all the time too LOL. I use fill layers too but hadn't thought of using one like this.....so awesome to learn a new way to use fill. Thx so much for sharing. Thirdly, I have a fave stamp brush but now that I've added your two I will have 3 fave stamp/erase brushes. That is just so awesome!
I have really abandoned my M3 stuff I need to get back into track!!! I have to admit masks are NOT my thing...because I dont scrap on PS or CS or whatever you guys use, sometimes I can't find my way ion my program and the masks are hard work (plus every time I do find my way...I forget what I did LOL) but being you (Jaimee) I ll give it a go!!!!!!!!
I looked on YouTube, and it looks like you can just drag the mask on, then "convert to frame" (a button in a tool bar up top), and drag a pic or paper onto it. Does that work? Masking is so fun, I hope you can figure it out!
I'm sure Jaimee will pop in soon with a winner. She's has family visiting and she hasn't seen them in years, so I'm sure she'll be here as soon as she can. Thanks for being patient!!!
Sorry everyone for the delay! I randomly drew lucky number 5! I will get a coupon as soon as possible Congratulations!
