    what I did for my page is used the quick selection tool and made a duplicate of the leaves
    I used the rectangular marquee tool and went around the frame and duplicated it
    this ment these objects were as normal elements so allowed me to place items under them

    another way would be to lay new elements on top and mask them out and earase the bits you did not want showing, Hope it helps
