Tayla has decided she would like her birthday party at home. Some people do Christmas in July, well my daughter is doing Halloween in February! The thought of having to entertain 16, 6-7 year olds is freaking me out just a little, so I need some help with party game ideas please. The party will go for 2 hours, how many games do you think I should have ready? Do you have any games your kids have played and loved? So far I have a musical chair type game that I use Kate's awesome halloween doodles for. I thought of making some monster pieces out of felt (as I have a life time supply of that stuff around here!) which I will hide around like a treasure hunt, then the kids have to work together to create the monster. A disco A game where they have to bounce a ping pong ball into a plastic cup to win a prize and thats all I have I guess there is always pass the parcel too I'd love something crafty so they make it and take it home, but obviously something not too messy? Can you put 'craft' and 'not messy' in the same sentence? Is that doable? Any suggestions?
eat apples off a string hanging from ceiling is hilarious passing mints or doughnuts with toothpick or chopstick in mouth is fun and I have to admit thinking you have felt cushions, felt lampshades, and more...bhahhhaha
Treasure hunts are great at this age. So the party is halloween themed??? I would take the theme and run. Monster Boogie, Pin the eye on the cyclops... hmmmm let me check pinterest.
what about science experiments (the homemade kind/kid safe)?? I did find some cute ideas on pinterest by searching halloween party games. toilet paper bowling was a popular one. also guess how many ___________ in the jar? That's a quick one - we did this one year with legos and the winner took home the container of legos. Bingo.
Decorating monster cupcakes should take some time and not be AS messy as long as you use candies that are not teeny-tiny. Make sure to have them do that last so they can be bouncing off the walls when their parents come to pick them up!
For a take home, we've been to parties and my kiddo has decorated a simple cape, mask; a door hanger decoration ( shape with circle cutout for the doorknob, shape gets bedazzled); a paper plate "wreath"- they supplied letters, shapes, sparkle glue, etc......as they are girls, maybe charms or beaded quick necklaces...
Toilet paper mummies! Get the kids in groups and one of them has to stand still while the others wrap them in toilet paper or kitchen towels on a roll? Fastest group wins As a take home what about cookie decorating?
Since it is halloween themed you could have a costume relay. Throw a bunch of easy to put on items (hats, tutus, headbands, boas, wigs, etc) in a couple of baskets and have them race. First person runs to the basket and puts something on and then runs back to tag the next team member.
haha I love the mummies idea oh yeah, I remember doing this one as a kid, that was fun! These are great ideas, thank you and so simple which is even better
We always had a fun game as kids: "Cutting chocolate" You need: A big bar of chocolate, some newspaper, a bit of rope (that can be cut with a normal cutlery knife). A hat, scarf, thick gloves. A dice. Knife and fork. You take a big chocolate bar and wrap it in a bit of newspaper and rope (or whatever that can be opened using a knife and a fork). You put it in the middle of a table that the kids sit around. The first kid gets the dice and starts throwing it until it has a 6. As soon as a 6 is thrown the kid needs to quickly put on hat, scarf, gloves (or some Halloween clothing to go with the theme, only the gloves are important cause they make it more difficult). As soon as all the clothes are on, the kid is allowed to pick up knife and fork and start trying to open the wrapped up cocolate bar with it. If he or she does get to the chocolate he or she is allowed to eat it - one piece at a time (also only using knife and fork). In the meantime the dice gets passed on to the next kid, who now throws it until getting a 6. As soon as he or she gets the six, the first kid must stop (no matter if he or she got any chocolate) and pass the clothes and the cutlery on to the second one, who needs to put them on first and can then have a go at the chocolate. And so on. Game ends when chocolate is finished. I always thought this was great fun. Hope my explanation made sense.
Oh IsabellaLR you've just made me have the most brilliant flash back!!! We used to play this dress up chocolate game at Guides. It was one of our fav games. Fab memories!!
It's super super simple...but the bowling using toilet paper rolls with drawn on ghost faces has been a hit at our Halloween parties for kids and adults.
